Kimball Library News 7/26/11

Pick a book discussion that suits your age and time preference. We have one for nearly everyone! Copies of the books are available for the asking. You do not have to read the book to just come and listen. Sometimes it’s easier to try things out if you take this approach. Try looking at the ‘calendar’ link on our website (www.kimballlibrary.com). Click on the event to see the book chosen for the month.

First Wednesdays: Tween Book Discussion (Grades 6-8)
Candy and thought-provoking conversation will definitely be served from 6:30-7:30pm. All interested mature middle school students are welcome. This is a great venue to meet new friends and catch up on current events like what’s new at school and what the best new reads are. (Not young adults, not children -- hence, TWEENagers in grades 6-8 are the ages for this group.)

Second Wednesdays: Teen Book Discussion (Grades 9-12)
Come hang out on the second Wednesday evenings of each month from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss the book selected. Snacks and cool conversation will be served. And yes, we make time to reflect on our day and what happened third period. We’ll make sure you get a book-just ask.

Third Tuesdays: Junior Book Discussion (Grades 4 & 5)
Bring your dinner in a bag. We provide drinks and dessert. It helps us talk about the book better when we eat! We meet from 5:30-6:30pm, and books are always available at the children's desk. Give us a try.

Third Tuesdays: Evening Adult Book Discussion
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month to discuss the chosen title from 6-7pm. We always welcome new folks. Please stop by and to listen in and check us out. We love new faces.

Fourth Mondays: Brown Bag Club (Grades 2 & 3)
You bring your own supper and we always provide the dessert and drinks while we talk about the book we're reading. Why not give it a try? Come from 5:30-6:30pm and see how much fun it is.
Fourth Wednesdays: Morning Adult Book Discussion
We welcome new members even if you didn't get to read the book. Please come to listen or join in the conversation about the book we've picked for the month. Coffee and goodies are available and it's a great way to meet new friends. Join us at 10:15am and we think next month you’ll be back.

Pick a lei (free just for attending) and you’re on your way to good times at Kimball Library on Friday, August 19th, from 5-8pm! Join us for a Hawaiian Luau with professional Hawaiian dancers. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt. Play some Hawaiian games including coconut bowling, hula hoop contest, and a sand bucket toss. There will be Hawaiian prizes for all game players. Games, food (hot dogs, popcorn, freeze pops, and drinks), and face painting start at 5pm. The professional Hawaiian dancers start at 6pm. This family fun event is sponsored by our wonderful group of volunteers ‘The Friends of Kimball Library.’ Mark the date and stop by anytime to practice the hula hooping. Aloha!
