Kimball Library News 5/3/11

For the history buffs, at our upcoming book sale there will be a selection of Civil War related books – this being the 150th anniversary. For those of you that live in the present, there will be plenty of contemporary realism books. And, for those who like to live out of this world, there will be plenty of fantasy as well. Please put Saturday, May 21st, at Kimball Library on your list of places to go. The hours are from 8am-3pm for the sale. Rain or shine, we’re waiting for you! Please also note that we are still encouraging and accepting donations for this upcoming sale.

We also are encouraging reading along with great discussion for all readers, young and old. We not only have two distinct book discussions for adults (every third Tuesday evening of the month at 6pm and every fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:15am), but we also have discussion for teens, tweens, and little nippers. Take note that grades 4 and 5 will soon be meeting on Tuesday, May 17, to discuss ‘The World According to Humphrey’ at 5:30pm with supper in tow as well as grades 2 and 3 meeting on Monday, May 23, at 6:30pm to discuss ‘Owen and Mzee’ with a brown bag supper. The elementary grade book discussion clubs do require registration, and drinks and dessert are served. The tweens and teens also have discussions once a month that don’t require registration. The tweens (grades 6-8) will be discussing ‘Devil’s Breath’ on Wednesday, June 1, at 6:30pm while the teens (grades 9-12) will be discussing ‘Paper Towns’ on Wednesday, June 8, at 6:30pm. Candy is part of the regime for the middle and high school discussions. All may get copies of the books at the main circulation desk for the asking.

Just a reminder-- Kimball Library will be closed on Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 28-Monday, May 30). Two day loan items taken on Thursday, May 26, will not be due back until Tuesday, May 31. Plan ahead and stock up! We wish you all an enjoyable holiday.
