Kimball Library News 6/5/12

It’s time! It’s time to register for summer reading starting June 14th, and it’s time to haul out the date book and pre-select all the summer reading events you want to attend and get your registration in early. We don’t want you or your child to miss out on any exciting events. Take a look below at what is on the horizon.

Peter Boie Magic Workshop (Ages 9 and up)/Tuesday, June 19th, 5-6pm: Peter teaches simple magic tricks to help increase confidence and improve communication skills in this hour-long, hands-on workshop...plus, it’s just fun to fool your friends and family with your newfound magical knowledge. Registration is limited and for Atkinson residents only.

Summer Reading Kick-off! Peter Boie-Magician for Non-believers (All ages welcome)/ Tuesday, June 19th, 6:30-7:30pm: One of the biggest contributors to Peter’s success is his appeal to all age groups-there is something for everyone. Once the show starts, Peter doesn’t let you go for a solid 45 minutes. The show runs the gamut from award-winning, mind-blowing magic, to side splitting comedy, to audience participation so come and experience it for yourself! No registration needed.

Summer Concert in the Courtyard-Taylor River Band (All ages)/Thursday, June 21st, 6:30-8pm: The Taylor River Band is a contemporary Bluegrass Band with Heather Mike on Fiddle, Dave Dupouy on Banjo, Ben Molin on Bass, and Doug Molin on Guitar. TRB plays at venues throughout the area. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the show! This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Kimball Library.

Popcorn will be served throughout the performance. No registration needed.

Brown Bag Book Club (Grades 2-4)/Monday, June 25th, 5:30-6:30pm: This book club is held on the 4th Monday of the month. Books are available at the children's desk for you to pick up in plenty of time for reading. We always have something good to eat so give us a try! This month our pick is 'Three Good Deeds' by Vivian Vande Velde. Pick up a copy in the children’s room.

Graveyards & Epitaphs (Grades 6 and up)/Wednesday, June 27th, 6:30-8pm: Join us for a night in the cemetery finding cool inscriptions and making some tombstone rubbings. Back at the library we'll all write some epitaphs of our own. Registration begins 6/4 for residents and 6/21 for non-residents. Registration for this event ends 6/26 for all.

Library Olympics! (Grades K-5)/Thursday, June 28th, 6:30-7:30pm: The Summer Olympics are still a month away, but here at the Kimball Library we like to be the front-runners. Come be a part of the Library Olympics! Do you have what it takes to Hula-Hoop your way to a gold medal? How about fashioning the perfect paper airplane? Games abound at the library tonight and everyone qualifies!  Registration begins 6/4 for residents and Thurs. 6/21 for non-residents. Registration for this event ends 6/26 for all.
