Are you having a hankering
for some delicious caramel apples? Sign
up your child and yourself (and any other family members who are residents) for
Fall Family Night on Thursday, October 24, taking place at 6:30pm. Come
celebrate autumn with us! Enjoy making your own caramel apple with all
the fixings then settle down to watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie
Brown'.
Registration
is required for this special event as well as supplying one apple topping to
share (per family). This is a family event--please register all
participants including adults. Children may not be left to attend on
their own. Suggested toppings for you to
bring include, but are not limited to, the following ideas: chopped nuts, mini
chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, honey roasted peanuts, pretzel pieces, or chopped
Butterfingers. Be creative and come up
with a new one to add to the list!
The
Affordable Care Act enrollment period begins October 1, 2013. Do you have any questions such as: What does
it mean for you and your family? If yes,
we have just the event for you.
Join us on
November 6th from 6:30 – 8:00pm when a representative from AARP will
do a presentation on the ACA and how it affects citizens of all ages. The speaker will highlight some of the key
elements of the law related to insurance coverage, timelines for enrollment,
and facts on how sign up through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The presentation will end with a 30 minute
Q&A session and participants will walk away with a handout of helpful
resources. Space is limited to Atkinson
residents and seating is limited, so don’t delay and sign up soon.
The story
hour enrollment period expands and continues!
Due to the popularity
of our preschool classes, we are adding an additional ‘Kiddie Lit’ class to the
mix on Friday mornings at 11:30am. The first available session started on
October 11, 2013. Crafts, music, rhyme, new friends and adventures into
literacy will be found during these classes geared for children ages 3-6.
This class with Miss Celeste will be organized thematically and you’ll be able
to look online to see what the general theme for the day is.
Do take note that we also have classes for that
same age grouping on Tuesdays at 11:30am, Thursdays at 10:15am, and Fridays at
10:15am. If you sign up for any of these time slots, we consider you registered
through the month of December. Please send us an email or call if you
cannot attend. You may be taking a space away from someone else.

Please be aware that the library will be closed on Monday, October 14, for Columbus
Day Observed. If you take a two day loan
out on Friday the 11th, it will not be due until Tuesday the 15th.
