Want to knit OR crochet a bit? Join other tween and teens ages 9-19 after school on Mondays from 2:30-4:30pm. Wait, you don’t get out of school until 3? No worries, we are liking the idea of tweens and teens arriving at staggered times and staying for some or all of the time allotted. We’ll have two adults to help that know how to knit/crochet and one adult that is a novice who will learn along with you. *NEW THIS YEAR–Teens & tweens arriving from the bus may opt to work on homework until 3:15 when the elementary school kids arrive.
You need to bring your own supplies of yarn and needles. If you already know how to knit (or crochet) bring your project. If you are new to the craft, please talk to us to see what to start on. Don’t buy anything without coming in first.
Wait, how will you get to the library? The middle school bus drops off here and the elementary bus does, too! You need to set that up with the bus company/school as to permission, etc. Once you get started you are welcome to keep your projects here so you don’t have to tote yours back and forth. Register ASAP and let’s crochet or knit!
TUESDAY AFTERNOON MOVIES: ‘Adrift’ ~ October 23rd: When a young woman goes to Tahiti to discover herself, she becomes enamored with a handsome young man who has sailed out to the middle of the ocean to find himself. It’s not long before they fall in love, and the man entreats his new love to come with him on the trip of a lifetime. Everything is idyllic until they are faced with the ferocity of the ocean and something called Hurricane Raymond. With Mother Nature threatening their lives with every twist and turn of their boat, they will have to fight for survival. ADRIFT is based on the inspiring true story about the resilience of the human spirit and the transcendent power of love.
FYI – There will be no movie on ~ October 30th. Please note there has been a change in the schedule and there will be NO movie on October 30th but join us November 6th for Three Identical Strangers.
‘Three Identical Strangers’ ~ November 6th: Documentary film covers a set of triplets separated at birth as a science experiment. Three families adopted each one of the brothers, all unaware of their status as triplets. The project analyzed how triplets function when they are raised apart in radically different situations. The brothers did not discover each other until they were 19 years old, completely by chance. Their story instantly becomes a global sensation complete, however, the reunion sets in motion a series of events that unearth an unimaginable secret — a secret with radical repercussions for us all.
NEEDLE CRAFTERS: Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, rug braiding, quilting or another form of needle work come join us for Needle Crafters for adults. Why should the tweens and teens have all the fun? Each Wednesday at 10:30 AM this informal gathering is a fun meet-up for those who are currently working on projects or who wish to start one. Are you stuck on a stitch or confused by a pattern? Most likely someone in the group can help. It is a great group to get some ideas for beginning new projects as well. This weekly meet and greet group enjoys conversation and laughs all while stitching away. Come alone and make a friend or bring a friend with you. All experience levels and ages are welcome. You do not need to be an Atkinson resident – all are invited. Please bring your own supplies.
