Kimball Library News 10/22/18

It’s exciting to announce that our wonderful ‘Friends of the Library’ won the ‘Friends of the Library’ of the year award that is presented by the NH Library Trustees Association!  They were acknowledged with a plaque and kudos as a surprise at our 10th anniversary building bash held here on Friday, October 12, 2018.  The plaque reads ‘Sue Palmatier Award for Outstanding Support by a ‘Friends of the Library’ Group.  We could not be more pleased with this hard-working well-deserving bunch!  We would not be able to have the programs, museum passes, and more for youth and adults if it were not for our Friends.  They have so much to be proud of and we couldn’t be more thankful!

FALL LUMINERIES: Start the morning right (Saturday, November 10th at 10:30 AM) with this festive and colorful autumn craft. We love these on our tables and they're fun to make too! Be sure to register children in grades K-6 to make this lovely and pretty candle light to take home.  Once you discover how, your children will want to make more at home for gifts and/or every window.

ANTI-ABDUCTION *CLASS WITH CHRIS FAZZIO: Children are involved in many activities.  They are protected in the classroom and on the field, but what about when they are alone? As difficult as that is to think about, let's work together to keep our kids as they are safe as they are out and about.  This important opportunity is happening on November 17th at 10:30 AM.

Join us as we learn environmental awareness, verbal and physical cues to avoid abduction situations, and evasion techniques. The most important key to self-defense is confidence.  We will practice skills in a safe environment with a loving parent or guardian present.  This program is designed for youth no younger than kindergarten up to grade 6 with an adult partner.

*Parent or guardian must register with the child(ren) and be part of the program.  Grades K-6 only.  This program is offered by Chris Fazzio who is a Kung Fu/Self Defense Instructor.

About the presenter: Chris Fazzio is a graduate of Merrimack College with a BA in History and Political Science. In 1989, he began his Kung Fu training with Alex Kiesel at Yang's in Andover. He has since earned his 9th stripe out of the 10 stripe YMAA curriculum. Chris has also attended many seminars, taught by several famous teachers including, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, Master Liang, Shou-Yu, Madam Wang, Ju-Rong and Grandmaster Li, and Mao-Ching on topics such as weapons training, Qigong, Wu Shu, Bagua, Sparring and Qin Na (Chin Na). His position as Kung Fu Program Director allows him to combine his passion for martial arts and history with his love of teaching.

Chris practices a balanced teaching philosophy mixing discipline with fun and new skills with foundation training. He believes that the greatest gift anyone can give a student is the confidence to be humble.

TUESDAY MOVIES: Tuesdays at 1 PM continue to draw many folks in.  We list the films on the website, and occasionally here.  Coming up of special note on November 13th is ‘The Incredibles 2’.  This happens to coincide with and early release day so this means nobody has to skip school to come.  J  Popcorn is served with a smile.  Arrive early for the best seats!

“They’re back! This time with Helen in the spotlight, leaving Bob at home with Violet, Dash and baby Jack to navigate the day-to-day heroics of 'normal life”.  Will Helen be able to succeed and will Bob be able to keep things afloat at home until she gets back? When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, can the family find a way to work together again?”  Rated:  PG      Runtime: 118 minutes
