MORNING BOOK GROUP: The book for April for adults is ‘The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet’ by Jamie Ford on April 27 at 10:15.
Following the discussion, a documentary film will be shown. This movie brings history into the present, retelling this difficult story and following Japanese American activists as they speak out against the Muslim registry and travel ban. Knowing our history is the first step to ensuring we do not repeat it. "And Then They Came for Us" is a cautionary and inspiring tale.
This event is part of Bitter Injustice: The Internment of Japanese Americans in World War II, a community-wide read project with 10 libraries, 2 high schools, and the Wright Museum. This project is made possible with support from New Hampshire Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Learn more at nhhumanities.org.
