A public library meeting room is legally constituted as a designated public forum – open for expressive activity by part or all of the public. We’d like the community to understand that their library is content neutral and does not discriminate among groups or individuals – including political groups or candidates. The use of a public meeting room by any group does not imply library endorsement or support of the groups’ goals or views.
As an election draws near, the Library welcomes all
local political parties and their candidates to take advantage of their public
library as a venue where they can express themselves in order to best inform
the public as they make their voting decisions.—Karen Brown, Director
