FAIRY JOURNAL: Fairy Journal is a modified pen pal program run here at the Kimball Library! The program starts on July 6th but is an ongoing program with no set time during the week when kids can come by and participate. Kids, grades 1-12 are invited to participate, with the older kids being the fairies!

The younger kids who participate in this program are going to receive a journal that is going to be kept at the Library. Once a week, preferably Monday, these kids will put an entry into their journal to write to a fairy that is coming to the library later in the week!

Once the younger kids have put their entry into their journals, the older kids, the “fairies”, will come into the library later in the week and write a message back to the younger buddies. Their real identities will be a secret to the child they are writing to, and their journal entries will be written as their fairy persona!

All journals will be provided by the Kimball Library and stored at the Library.  Please register ASAP to get started.

KIMBALL LIBRARY REOPENING PLAN: (In case you missed it!) We are happy to announce that the Kimball Library will reopen to the public on Monday, July 6th!
Our first priority is your safety and that of the staff. Therefore, strict social distancing and masks will be required of the 20 adults who can visit the Library at one time. Admittance will be based on a token system. A visiting adult will take 1 of 20 tokens on their way inside the building and return it when leaving; if all the tokens are taken, the 21st visitor is welcome to wait on a bench inside the lobby until someone leaves. For now, Take Out service will continue.

The Library will return to its original schedule: Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. The Children’s Room will be open for browsing; all borrowing will take place at the Main Desk. Returns must be placed in the drops so that they can be quarantined.

The large Meeting Room will not be available at this time. However, the Conference and Study Room will be open for groups of 4 and 2 respectively. In order to preserve social distancing, programs will continue to be virtual and staff will be positioned 6 feet away from visitors.

We have missed you! We are stocked with many new and exciting materials and are looking forward to opening our doors again.
