Kimball Library News 4/20/2020

Absence DOES make the heart grow fonder, and we really couldn’t miss you more, but while we're sad we can't see you in person, we can still meet up virtually. Videos can be found on our new YouTube channel. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPMxC6H0BDxmtvdwqE_WXIw/
*All ages have been having fun viewing our Kimball Library YouTube videos! They are fun & educational and a great way to stay connected to your Kimball Library friends.

GET STARTED FROM HOME RESEARCHING YOUR FAMILY TREE: Researching Your Family Tree has started meeting through email.  There are 2 spots still open to join this program. These slots are being offered to Kimball Patron Card Holders.

This class is for beginners only. You will need to have computer access as we meet through email and view videos, resources, etc... At a later date, (fingers crossed for the middle of August), the group will continue to meet in person for 6 sessions on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 3:00. There is a cost of $30.00 per Atkinson Resident which you can pay by phone using a credit card or ask about other payment options. Just call the library at 603-362-5234. For more information email: Lois Powers at lpowers@kimballlibrary.com

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS IN THE AGE OF CORONAVIRUS: A popular program here at Kimball Library has gone online. Nancy Steenson will host College Admissions in the Age of Coronavirus over Zoom. This resource is geared to 8th-11th graders and/or their parents. In addition to presenting ways to stand out in the college admissions process, Nancy will be discussing how colleges will be evaluating students in this new and changing landscape. Nancy’s goal is to “help students and parents adapt to this new reality”. The Zoom conference is free; you simply need to email Nancy for access through her website at: https://www.steensoncollegecoach.com/events

APRIL STAYCATION: Kimball Library is excited to bring you at least 2-3 events per day the week of April 27 through May 1.  All these events are virtual to keep you safe at home.  Please visit our webpage and/or Facebook page to getting linked in to these events.   Here is just a hint of what is to come…

On Monday (April 27) STEAM Team will be LIVE with Skype a Scientist! On Tuesday (April 28) we’ll be having a ‘Cupcake Rush’ challenge on Zoom.  Wednesday (April 28) the Lip Sync Battles begin!  Thursday (April 29) Toddler Craft Party LIVE! will happen and Friday we’ll announce the Lip Sync Battle winner as well as have a Netflix Party.  Also you can look forward to some BINGO scavenger hunts as well a STEAM video, Pop-up Poetry, and a Storytime video.

Please have a safe STAYCATION with us!  We are looking forward to interacting with you at our numerous events online.

TIE A STRING ON YOUR FINGER: We have books outside Monday to Friday 9-5 (when it’s not raining, sleeting, or snowing—sigh) for you to take and keep forever.  We do replace those taken with others so there is a constant shift happening.  Stop by and help yourself!

STAY TUNED: Visit our website, FaceBook page, Twitter account, Youtube or Instagram to learn about more updates and resources to come.  We miss all our face-to-face interactions with our wonderful community, but safe practice says ‘see you online.’  We have upcoming events online as well that you or your children will be able to participate in.  See you there!
