Kimball Library News 4/6/2020

The Kimball Library is temporarily closed but we have plenty of materials that can be accessed online. Hoopla, Overdrive/Libby App and Kanopy are all excellent sources for e-books, audiobooks, and even movies. So many titles can be overwhelming though, particularly when you’re used to browsing in person.
To help, our staff here at Kimball Library would like to offer personalized recommendations to anyone who’d like them, from ages 3-103!

Fill out a nifty form online that is located on our website in a post entitled ‘Personalized Recommendations’. Our librarian will get back to you within 24 hours with 2-3 cool new streaming titles for you to check out.

Need help logging on? Email kwatson@kimballlibrary.com with any technical questions and she will help set you up.

SEND US YOUR STORY: We’re living in historic times. Kimball Library would like to record this time in our shared history by compiling personal experiences and stories during the coronavirus pandemic.

Share your experience with a photo, a letter, a short story, a poem, anything that depicts how you are facing this historic event. Send story to staff@kimballlibrary.com. We’ll archive our town’s collective experience on our library website.

Thank you to Wilton Public Library for the idea.

Be well and take care of yourselves and each other.

T/WEEN BOOK VOTING IS HERE: Teens and tweens: Make your voice heard! Check out the nominated titles for this year’s Flume and Isinglass awards. Nomination and voting is all t/ween-run, so seize your moment and pick your winner!  Again, jump on the Kimball Library website and look for the voting post.  There are two forms, one for Isinglass and one for Flume.  You do not need to have read all the books to select a winner, just perhaps on the one that you did read.  Thanks for exercising your right to vote!

STORYTIME VIDEOS: We would normally host Kiddie Lit StoryTime on Fridays with Miss Daniele. Even though we can't meet in real life, we can still have StoryTime online! Find our first virtual StoryTime with Miss Daniele here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU7UtCn8q-I. Our Kimball Library Youtube channel will have regular videos of STEAM Team challenges and StoryTimes as well as other kid-friendly nuggets.  Be sure to check us out and subscribe.  We miss your faces and hope you see ours by visiting our videos as well as all our social media pages such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  Stay tuned for more videos!

STAY TUNED: Visit our website, FaceBook page, Twitter account, or Instagram to learn about more updates and resources to come.  We miss all our face-to-face interactions with our wonderful community, but safe practice says ‘see you online.’  We have upcoming events online as well that you or your children will be able to participate in.  See you there!
