We are enjoying seeing the return of patrons from the past as well as new members. Just a reminder that this Library can provide you with access to physical books, movies, magazines, music, children’s materials and more as well as stream services for movies, music, e-books, and audiobooks. We have ‘things’ to borrow such as the telescope, snowshoes, pre-loaded Kindles with over a hundred titles, ukuleles, mobile hotspots, backpacks for seacoast and mountain hikes, cameras for kids, Kill-a-watt energy detectors, a planisphere, as well as croquet and bocce sets. (Regarding snowshoes, bocce and croquet--we do live in New England, so just wait a minute!) These unique items are all for with a current library card!
ART CLUB (ZOOM): Join us for a different fun art challenge every week. We'll learn about line, shape, color, texture, and form with just a few tools and our imagination. Almost all projects will require only paper, markers, scissors and glue, but kids are welcome to use whatever art supplies they have at home (with parental permission).
We will have a goal or project in mind each week, but this is not an art class as much as it is a space for kids to be creative, express themselves, and get some positive feedback. This class is developmentally geared for budding artists in grades 1-6. Please register for the 5 week session that will be taking place on Fridays at 3:30 PM starting in November.
NEEDLE CRAFTERS: Following the library's social distancing and face covering measures, the Needle Crafters have chosen to resume meeting but the gathering looks a bit different. Chairs are spaced around the normal knitting area to accommodate for social distancing measures. While in the Library, individuals are required to wear masks. The room size capacity is limited and therefore the Needle Crafter group will be a maximum of 8 people and we will not be able to accommodate walk-in participants. We are looking forward to having you back in a safe way so that you can spend an enjoyable and relaxing time crafting.
If you are interested in being part of this group, please email lpowers@kimballlibrary.com or call us to speak with staff to add you to the roster.
HOLIDAY CLOSING: Please note that the Kimball Library will be closing at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 25th (Thanksgiving Eve), and will also be closed on November 26 & 27 for Thanksgiving break. We will resume normal business hours on Saturday, November 28th from 10-3. Stock up accordingly. Here’s a pleasant reminder that digital streaming services such as Overdrive Downloadable Books, Kanopy, and Hoopla are available 24/7 with a current card in good standing. Happy reading, listening, and viewing!
