New this month, teens can stop by or call ahead to pick up a grab bag made just for them.
Mystery Bags will
contain two books handpicked by librarians, fuzzy socks, and hot cocoa mix. Thus
far Mystery Bag themes include Hamilton, murder mysteries, twisted fairy tales,
movie adaptations and action-packed adventure. (They’re all so good – you can’t
go wrong.)
Craft Bags will
hold everything you need to make this month’s craft: Transfer Art Candles!
Print art off the web or create your own freehand design and follow the
instructions included to transfer your art onto the candle. (Psst… makes a
great gift!) If you need any extra help with your craft, our Youth Librarian
will be available on Zoom on Dec 18th at 2:00pm to chat with anyone that wants
to drop in, but it is absolutely not required.
Call (603)
362-5246 to reserve a grab bag today or stop by the library to see what’s here.
We have a sample of this month’s candle craft on display so teens can be
inspired.
MINDFULNESS FOR CHALLENGING TIMES: Finding that current times are
challenging in your everyday life? Join
us for three sessions of mindfulness.
Each 90-minute session we will focus on a different topic and
mindfulness application. Register and
ZOOM with us for one or all three sessions. No experience is necessary.
Session 1 –
Wednesday, December 9 at 1:00 ~ Uncertainty and Fear – Learn a simple technique
for including emotions in your mindfulness practice. Learning to relate
skillfully with your emotions, especially the difficult ones, can help you
navigate uncertainty and cultivate self-care.
Session 2 –
Wednesday, December 23 at 1:00 ~ Boredom and Bad Habits – Explore how you are
relating to boredom and filling the happiness gap. Are you eating too many
cookies, spending more time watching the news or taking extra naps? Using
mindfulness to look at habitual patterns can help develop the self-awareness
needed to respond skillfully and make healthy choices.
Session 3 – Wednesday,
January 6 at 1:00 ~ Kindness for Me, You and the Whole World – Learn how to use
mindfulness to cultivate an inclusive skillful compassion that can help us to
stay connected to our best selves, others and our common humanity.
