We have fully open hours, yet folks often inquire so we will remind you that we are open M-F from 10-8, and Saturdays from 10-3. At the time of this release, we are currently the only library in the cooperative that is open in the evenings.
This is also the best time to inform you that holiday
hours are on the website. Giving you notice so you can plan to stock up, please
note that we are closed on Monday, July 5th, observing Independence
Day. As always, streaming and downloadable books are open 24/7 with a Wi-Fi
connection and a library card in good standing.
RACING
IN THE RAIN: Join us at 6 PM with a sack supper and/or
snacks on Wednesday, July 7th, as we meet in the Library Courtyard
to eat and then discuss ‘Racing in the Rain’ which is the youth version of ‘The
Art of Racing in the Rain’ by Garth Stein. Older teens may prefer to read the
adult book. Both copies will be available for check-out a month before the
event. Please register youth entering middle and high school.
Eating and discussion will happen outside (weather
permitting), and then we’ll watch the movie starting at 6:20 PM. Please
register as seating is limited in the ‘theater’.
The movie is 2 hours long and rated PG. We expect
pick-up of t/weens to be at 8:30 PM.
ANIMAL
SHELTER CRAFTS: Earn service hours while having fun
crafting with friends at the Library AND make some furry friends very happy.
We’re celebrating our summer theme Tails & Tales by working with Salem
Animal Rescue League on Monday, July 12th at 6 PM. We’ll be crafting
toys for their dogs, cats, and other furry friends to play with while they wait
for their forever homes. You can also choose to make some bandanas and bow ties
to help dogs and cats up for adoption look extra dapper. The extra touch could
help an animal up for adoption catch someone’s eye. Volunteers who come to
craft with us will earn service hours!
Supplies will be provided, but donations of old
t-shirts and tennis balls would be a huge help. Please check your closets and
bring what you can. This event is slated for t/weens in grades 5 and up.
3-D
PRINTING WITH JOE: Learn how 3-D printing works and design
your very own creation to bring to life on a 3-D printer. Atkinson's very own
Joseph Quaratiello will teach a short introduction to Tinkercad, a 3-D
sculpting software. Everyone will get the chance to test out the software as
they add their own unique touch to a basic design. Each design will be printed
so everyone can take home their own 3-D print.
This exciting opportunity will first be happening on
Tuesday, July 13th, from 4:30-6 PM offered for grades 6 and up.
There will be another opportunity for grades K-5 later in the summer.
3-D printed items require 48-72 hours to be ready for
pickup. Please plan to stop by on Thursday (July 15th) to pick up
your uniquely designed item.
