BOTTLE
PAINTING: Cathie Piccolo and Lois Powers researched high and
low, both online and through books and magazines for their next craft project
to tackle. Join them for their
'Bibliocraft” class where they will show you the ins and outs to painting on glass.
In this creative and as always, fun class, Cathie and
Lois will provide the instructions, materials, embellishments and support for
you to paint away. Each person will receive (2) attractive bottles with
dispenser tops that can later be used for dispensing oil & vinegar, soap,
etc. All Artisans start somewhere, and
these beautiful, creative, and practical dispensers make for a great gift idea.
*Registration is required and seating is limited. A
non-refundable materials fee of $10.00 must be paid at time of registration.
Stop in at the library and register today for this artsy class on September 9th
at 6:00 PM! Call for more information.
LAUNCHPADS:
Launchpads tablets are an innovative and fresh way to bring fun and educational
games to children. The pre-loaded content and no internet connection means that
learning is self-directed; your child is free to go at their own pace and
pursue the concepts that holds their interest.
Launchpads are a NEW technology at the Kimball
Library! Pre-loaded with content for kids and tweens, launchpads
are designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface, and 100% secure. Access to
powerful content is as simple as turning on each device — anytime, anywhere.
STEAM is a key focus in our Launchpad selection.
Understanding science and engineering concepts in particular, are increasingly
important to introduce to children at a young age so that they can better apply
them at school. The games and puzzles included in these Launchpads prompt
children to think in new and creative ways. We are hopeful that Launchpads will
promote resilience and a love of learning. We have chosen a variety of content
for toddlers through children in middle school.
The acquisition of the Launchpads was made possible in
part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the New Hampshire
State Library. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to lend these exciting,
fun educational tablets to our youth!
