Just a reminder that it’s not too late for youth entering
grades 5 and up to join our ‘Charity Stitch-A-Bit’. Every Monday between 2:30
and 4:30 those youth are invited to knit and or/crochet for charity. We are
working on easy baby hats that will be donated to shelters or care centers. We
have adults on hand to help the novice knitters/croch eters. Come for part or
all of the 2 hour window. Once you
register your children, they will get a reminder each week. Please reply to the
reminder email if you don't plan to make that particular session.
BUILD A BETTER BFF: Invite your BFF, or make a new BFF, at an ‘after
hours’ party at the library for kids in grades 5 and up. We’ll have ice breaker games, games in the
courtyard (weather permitting), stack attack, pizza, and we will end with a
movie voted on by the group. This is an informal time to get to know your BFF
better and make some new friends, too.
Let’s BUILD a BETTER FRIENDSHIP together!
Plan to wear comfy clothes and bring
a simple snack to share for at least 12 others.
We will provide pizza and drinks.
This ‘older’ t/ween event is on Tuesday, July 25th, and goes
from 8-11. We’ll vote on the 90 minute
movie that will start at 9:30 sharp. We
will do that right at 8pm so you and parents can decide if you want to stay.
Plan to be IN the building before
8pm as the doors will be locked. Plan to
be locked-in until the party is over or indicate when being dropped off what
time your parents are coming to collect you.
Youth must be at least 10 or entering grade 5 in the fall. No exceptions. Parents must bring you in (not drop you at
the door) and leave a number where they can be contacted if necessary.
BUILD A
BETTER SUNDAE: Summer reading participants and their guests are
invited to join us for ice cream sundaes.
We will have a myriad of toppings for you to choose from so you can
'build a better sundae'. Come at 6:30pm
and after you build your sundae you can stay and build some other structures
for sport.
ALL ages need to register so we will have enough ice cream and
toppings on Wednesday, July 26th. This
event is limited to those registered for summer reading and their families.
Thank you to The Friends of Kimball Library for being our sponsors!
BUILD A COMIC STRIP: Start with an idea, form a plan, and learn some
cartooning techniques to help you draft and edit your own cartoon characters on
the page. Make your cartoon silly, humorous, or insightful. Tell a story or
make a joke. Kids in grades K through 5 will leave with their own comic strip
to show off to their friends!
Register youth entering grades K-5
in the fall of 2017 for this fun activity happening on Thursday, July 27th,
at 6:30pm.
