Kimball Library News 4/22/19

In conjunction with the Town-wide Spring Yard Sale on Saturday, May 18th, the Kimball Library in Atkinson will be holding the Spring Book, Bake, & Flea Sale starting at 8:00am.  Our prices range from $ .10 to 2.00 for the regular stock. Some “special” books are priced individually. Interested in more than ‘just books’?  You will be able to find music and a wide variety of movies as well.  Wait, there’s more!  Stop early for baked goods (we do sell out quickly sometimes), and there will also be an assortment of ‘flea’ items as well. We are on rain or shine because all our items are inside, so don’t forget to mark your calendar and stop by.

In addition, there will be a “Bag Day” on Monday, May 20th.  Remaining stock will be sold in either $3.00 or $10.00 bags – as much as you can fit!  Don’t you just love a bargain?  The best part is that all proceeds the Friends of Kimball Library who then fund many of our wonderful adult and youth programs as well as museum passes and more!  This sale is a win/win for everyone.

DISCOVERING STEAM—We have one final 6-week session of Discovering S.T.E.A.M. coming up and registration will fill quickly. We invite preschoolers (ages 3-6) to explore nature, computers, building, art, numbers, and more in this program! Engaging stations will allow children to discover and learn at their own pace and interest level. We'll come together at the end of class for a structured story or activity that fits into the theme. At each class, we'll hit on one of the elements of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering) with mathematics and art activities that build on that concept each session.
Watch your child's brain and interest get ignited as they discover S.T.E.A.M.!  Register ASAP.

TURN IT ON: Tech THIS out!  If you have an e-reader or gadget that you want to learn how to use with free downloadable books, then we can help you.  You can have a brief lesson here called “Turn it On!” on your tech toy (Kindle, iPad, iPod, cell phone or other device compatible with Overdrive/Libby App) and learn how to put a free library e-book on it.  This is a basic tutorial for newbies. You can also be taught how to use Hoopla.

Are you looking for some place to get help and to learn more about your device(s)? Get troubleshooting assistance, learn how to use your device(s), and discover the latest library apps, news, and online services!

Please register for an appointment.   Do you have questions regarding what you should bring?  Ask for Kathy Watson (tech toy technician) at (603) 362-5234.  (These tutorials are for resident card holders in good standing only, please.)

Brief tutorials are also available for basic computer instructions such as setting up email, social media, etc.  When you register for a lesson please indicate your need.  There are several spots per week on the online calendar that you may register for, and if you can’t find a slot that suits you then email kwatson@kimballlibrary.com and Kathy will attempt to give you a unique appointment time.
