Kimball Library News 4/8/19


Magformers, KEVA Planks, Marble Runs, Legos, Brain Flakes- any and all of this list will have your brain working, your fingers building, and your interest peaked! Come by the library during vacation week on either Wednesday, April 24th or Thursday, April 25th between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM for a designated time and space for this fun STEM action time.  Please register your intention with us and come for as little or as long of a window as your schedule allows.  Ages 3 and up are appropriate.  Children who are apt to put things in their mouths must be closely supervised by the accompanying adult.

BEGINNER’S PUPPETRY with BRENDA WEBER: First the demonstration by the master, Brenda Weber! Then we will do hands-on practice with marionettes. Learn about rod puppets. How good are you at being a ventriloquist? You will soon find out!  Register and learn the basics of puppeteering.  This will be a fun and educational night for everybody!  Get in the 'can do' spirit and register to learn this fascinating art form.

Brenda Weber knows the ins and out of puppetry and she'll be teaching us with her own collection of puppets and years of experience.  Register youth only ages 10 and up for Thursday evening, April 25th, at 6:30 PM.  Those t/weens interested in performing arts should especially advantage of this event geared especially for older youth.

DANIEL TIGER TIME: Say hello to the lovable Daniel Tiger on Friday, April 26th at 10:30 AM.

We will watch Daniel Tiger episodes, help paint a Daniel Tiger scene, share a snack, and play together, too. This is a perfect event for all those toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners that are Daniel Tiger fans.

Please register for this event and wear clothes that can get dirty.  All ages are welcome to be a child at heart.

NH BOATING SAFETY COURSE: Register for this course happening on April 29th and May 2nd from 6:00 to 9:30 PM through the NH Marine Patrol at https://register-ed.com/programs/newhampshire/174.

The New Hampshire Classroom Course covers a variety of topics including boat navigation, boating safety equipment, invasive aquatic species and laws and rules. This instructor-led class incorporates a range of learning methods consisting of lecture, videos, and student discussion.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will leave with a boating certificate which is valid for 45 days. The permanent certificate card will be automatically mailed to the student's address entered at the time of registration.

Everyone 16 years of age and older who operates a motorboat over 25 horsepower on New Hampshire waters must have a valid boating education certificate. Students may register and take the course at 15 years old, although a boating education certificate will not be issued until their 16th birthday.

Individuals with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations by contacting the New Hampshire Marine Patrol at (603) 293-2037 option #1. Please allow a minimum of 30 days advance notice for the department to arrange a course and requested accommodations. Individuals can also connect with the New Hampshire Relay Service or TDD at 1 (800) 735-2964.
