If you love the library and want to have a voice about it within the Town of Atkinson, you may wish to spend a bit of your Saturday hearing what Trustees do and how they shape library policies.
You may learn how your skills and talents can be used
and decide to become involved in giving back to our community. Or, you might
become more enlightened about this important community asset and plan your
involvement for a future date. It’s a great opportunity either way!
On October 30, 2021, there will be a brief
presentation at the Library to describe the role and expectations of the
Trustee in managing the operations of the Library and its staff. There are no
obligations beyond listening and hopefully learning.
Trustees will be available to describe the role and
requirements of this elected office. Please register to attend. The informative
session starts at 10:15 and is expected to run about an hour long depending on
questions.

BROWN
BAG BOOK CLUB: We’re starting a new season of Brown Bag
reading! Read the book and come with some of your dinner in a bag. We eat, talk, and treats and drinks are
provided. Please register grades 3-6 to
join and discuss with us.
Our book for October is Flora & Ulysses by Kate
DiCamillo. We meet on the 28th at 6:00 PM.
It begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a
tragic accident that has unexpected consequences. The squirrel never saw the
vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has
read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You! is the
just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that
Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and
misspelled poetry—and that Flora will be changed too, as she discovers the
possibility of hope and the promise of a capacious heart.
NEW
CATALOG: Starting on October 19th, Kimball Library
will have a new Library Catalog experience for you. The web address will be
kimball.aspendiscovery.org.
Aspen is a full-featured Discovery System that
integrates with eContent and other third-party providers, giving you comprehensive
access to all of your materials in one place. Aspen combines the traditional
library catalog with e-content, digital archives, and enrichment from all major
third-party providers. It also improves relevancy and ease of use, provides
native reading recommendations, displays all formats of titles within one
result, and much more.
Sound too good to be true? Check it out! We value your
input.
