We are pleased to announce that we have a new Youth Services Librarian-Miss Katie Cloughley.
Katie is originally from Goffstown, New Hampshire and
spent some time as an undergraduate working with a wildlife rehabilitator
before she went on to get her MILS. She previously worked at the Bedford Public
Library in Bedford, New Hampshire where she created programs -- often science-based,
for children up to 12 years old. The messier the program, the better! She loves
to explore and create almost as much as the kids she works with!
Her first programs coming up will be Sensory
Storytime. STEAM and STEM based programming is her jam! See the details below.
SENSORY
STORYTIME: Join us for an exceptional exploratory class:
Sensory Storytime!
Some story times are too long!
Some classes are too easy.
Sensory Storytime is just right for your two or
three-year-old who is almost ready for full storytime, but may still be
challenged by so much structure. Thursday mornings at 10:30 will be just the
right place for your child at Kimball Library.
Join us for one story, followed by an opportunity to
play with sensory and art activities that reinforce what was heard in the
story. Please register once for the fall session. Visit the online calendar or
call us at 603 362-5234 to get started.
NEW
CATALOG: Starting on October 19th, Kimball Library
will have a new Library Catalog experience for you. The web address will be kimball.aspendiscovery.org.
Aspen is a full-featured Discovery System that
integrates with eContent and other third-party providers, giving you comprehensive
access to all of your materials in one place. Aspen combines the traditional
library catalog with e-content, digital archives, and enrichment from all major
third-party providers. It also improves relevancy and ease of use, provides
native reading recommendations, displays all formats of titles within one
result, and much more.
Sound too good to be true? Check it out! We value your
input.
T/WEEN
BOOK DISCUSSION: The book of the month is 'Girl in the
Blue Coat' by Monica Hesse.
Amsterdam, 1943. Hanneke spends her days procuring and
delivering sought-after black-market goods to paying customers, her nights
hiding the true nature of her work from her concerned parents, and every waking
moment mourning her boyfriend, who was killed on the Dutch front lines when the
Germans invaded. She likes to think of her illegal work as a small act of
rebellion.
On a routine delivery, a client asks Hanneke for help.
Expecting to hear that Mrs. Janssen wants meat or kerosene, Hanneke is shocked
by the older woman's frantic plea to find a person - a Jewish teenager Mrs.
Janssen had been hiding, who has vanished without a trace from a secret room.
Hanneke initially wants nothing to do with such dangerous work, but is
ultimately drawn into a web of mysteries and stunning revelations that lead her
into the heart of the resistance, open her eyes to the horrors of the Nazi war
machine, and compel her to take desperate action.
Join the most chill t/weens and chat with us about
this book on Wednesday, November 3rd, at 6:00 PM. Multiple copies of
the book are here and available for check-out. Candy is served...
