TEEN VOTES NEEDED: Vote for FLUME Nominee Titles Today!  Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to nominate a title for the 2016 Flume Award list.

Titles can be fiction or nonfiction books, with appeal to teens in grades 9-12. They must have a publication date within the last two years (no older than 2013). If the book is part of a series, it must be able to stand alone, meaning a reader doesn’t have to read the other books in the series to understand what’s going on.

Teens can submit their suggestions online using the link listed on our website, by inboxing our Facebook or Instagram page, sending a direct tweet to KimballLibrary, or by contacting kwatson@kimballllibary.com.  We will be accepting nominations until January 29, 2016.  Or ... they can use the 'old-fashioned' way of talking to Kathy Watson directly!  Every nomination is important and we need the teen input.

SNAP CIRCUITS:  The lab will be 'lighting up' on two Wednesdays in January at 6:30pm -- January 20th and 27th will be the opportunity for youth in grades 3-6 to take part.  Registration is required as we have a limited supply of kits.  Not sure what the fuss is about?  Come watch or talk to the facilitator in advance.

6TH ANNUAL JACK FROST JAMBOREE: Did you know that this is our 6th annual Jack Frost Jamboree and each year it just keeps getting better?  We have so many games and activities planned!  Join us for some snappy winter fun on Saturday, January 23rd, between 10:30 and 2:30pm. Think 'winter carnival' with a twist.

Try these activities on for size:  Our custom miniature golf course in the stacks, winter crafty projects, games, games, games (and earning tickets for prizes!), fancy face painting, hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and possibly other surprises.

Dress accordingly as we do hope to have outdoor fun if we have even a little bit of the fluffy white stuff.  FROZEN FUN is included!

This is a free spectacular event sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Bring the family!

BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB: This month we're reading ‘Tracks in the Snow’ by Lucy Jane Bledsoe. Come and talk about the book with us on Monday, December 21, at 6pm. Bring a supper in your brown bag and have a good time hearing what others think about the book we picked. We have drinks and dessert to eat, too!

'When Amy doesn't show up to baby-sit, Erin knows that something must be terribly wrong. But who will believe her? Not her parents, not her teacher, not even the police. They all tell Erin the same thing-that Amy is irresponsible. Angry and upset, Erin decides to take matters into her own hands. She persuades Tiffany, her new science partner, to do a project on animal tracks, figuring that will give her an excuse to go and search for Amy. While the two girls are in the woods, a spring blizzard strikes. Erin and Tiffany are now snowbound. Caught in the storm without proper equipment, they have only each other to rely on. And they have only one thought-surviving.'

With the tribe on the brink of collapse, three unlikely heroes—Kevin, Stuart, and Bob—embark on a journey to find a new big boss. When their quest leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock), our three heroes must face their biggest challenge yet: saving all of Minionkind… from annihilation!’
