Kimball Library News 8/3/2020

We are enjoying all of you who making your way in the library to browse in person, but if you’re not ready for that we still have ‘take-out’ service available.  Take advantage of physical books, movies, and music as well as accessing our streaming services such as Hoopla, Kanopy, and Overdrive NH Downloadables.

UNICORN STORYTIME FACEBOOK: Join us on Fridays on Facebook LIVE at 10:30 for some magical stories. Each week our ‘Unicorn Librarian’ will read several picture books. This is just not for kids! Who doesn’t like to listen to a good story? If you are out and about and happen to miss it, just scroll through the Facebook page and have a listen later. You’ll also bump into some other Facebook LIVE events in the past that you might enjoy such as Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle read-alouds, past virtual summer concerts, magical crafternoon videos, and more.  Check it out! Our Facebook page is public so you don’t even need an account to view it. Look for it on the front of our website in the lower right-hand corner.

MARBLE MAZE (Grades 2-5): Join us on Thursday, August 13th, at 4:00 PM on ZOOM and build a MAZE that works. It can all happen while we're meeting together.

Register for this fun craft and we'll send you the list of supplies that you'll need, and Mrs. Birr will instruct you on camera how to do it.

Make the time to be online and it can be fun making something new. Zoom in for a crafty afternoon!

CONCERT REMINDER: Tune into Facebook LIVE for the last of our Summer Concert Series and listen to the tunes of internationally known folk duo, Hungrytown. Join us on Thursday, August 13th, at 6:00 PM with all your virtual friends and family. (You do not need FB to listen in. You can view from our FB page on our website.) Once again, the Friends of Kimball Library have sponsored yet another great concert for us!

NUMBER GNOMES (Grades 1-5): This is for kids in Grade K-5 who want to have fun and play games while practicing some math skills!  Each week will require different materials available for pick up from the library on the day of the event.

We'll learn mapping to find buried treasure, measure candy, and bounce some numbers around (literally!).

Register to receive a ZOOM link emailed to you 1 hour before the event.  This nifty number event is happening on Tuesdays at 5 PM in August.

Summer fun with events, concerts, and in person visits at the Library are still the best place to be!

BOARD BOP— (Virtual Board Games for Grades 1-5): Join us on ZOOM to hang out with friends and play a different fun game each week. Mondays at 5:00 PM will be the happening place to be starting in August. We'll be playing Charades, Pictionary, Bingo, and more! This friendly non-competitive fun is slated for kids in grades 1-5.

Registration is required to play. The Zoom link will be emailed to you 1 day prior and will mention any at-home materials you might need to have with you. 

VIRTUAL READERS THEATER (Grades 2-5): Join us on ZOOM in August on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM. It's time for your performance! YES!  It's time to read your script! YES!  Look your best! YES! Be on Stage! YES!  Right in your own home! What could be more fun than that? If you’ve been reading to the Listening Fairy you’ve already had lots of practice, but even if you haven’t you can still sign up for this event and/or register for the Listening Fairy on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM.

We have the plays and will email the script to you so you can practice your part. It’s all in good fun and maybe this will be your start toward a future on Broadway! This is not for reluctant readers so come on, sign up now. Mrs. Birr will coach you to have your best reading performance ever. Registration is required so you can have the scripts and Zoom link sent to you.

HUNGRYTOWN VIRTUAL CONCERT: Join us on Thursday, August 13th, at 6:00 PM on Facebook LIVE to hear the vibe of Hungrytown. (You do not need FB to listen in. You can view from our FB page on our website.) Once again, the Friends of Kimball Library have sponsored yet another great concert for us!

After more than fifteen years of world-wide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson--otherwise known as the folk duo Hungrytown--have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting. The couple spends half of each year on the road in North America, Europe and New Zealand. Their latest album made the top 10 on the American Folk DJ charts, and at least 14 'Best of the Year' lists.  Register and receive a reminder of this upcoming performance.
