Hey kids, do you believe in aliens?

Learn about U.F.O.'s, hear a few spooky alien tales and jokes, make some alien slime, and write a letter to a friendly alien. Whether you are a believer in the extraterrestrial or not, this event will be based on things that are out of this world!  We'll be sharing alien stories in little and big buddy pairs so upper elementary students will get to work with younger kids to decipher a story or two!

OUTTA THIS WORLD T/WEEN BOOK DISCUSSION: The book of the summer is 'Life as We Knew It' by Susan Beth Pfeffer for t/weens grades five and up taking place on Tuesday, July 9th from 6:30-7:30PM.

High school sophomore Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when an asteroid knocks the moon closer to Earth, like 'one marble hits another.' The result is catastrophic. How can her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis are wiping out the coasts, earthquakes are rocking the continents, and volcanic ash is blocking out the sun? As August turns dark and wintery in northeastern Pennsylvania, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove. Told in a year’s worth of journal entries, this heart-pounding story chronicles Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all—hope—in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.

OUTTA THIS WORLD candy and thought-provoking conversation will be served. All interested t/weenagers are encouraged to come even if they didn't finish the book. Please ask for a copy of the current book at the front desk. Non-resident friends are welcome. This is a 'UNIVERSE OF STORIES' summer reading event.
