Are you one of the many Americans who do not fully maximize their Social Security benefits? Knowing how and when you choose to collect Social Security benefits can be complex because it ultimately depends on your unique circumstances.  With retirees living longer today than previous generations, the choice of when to retire and collect Social Security benefits can make a significant difference in the income one can collect in retirement.

Join us on Monday, October 18th, at 1:00 PM or Thursday, October 28th, at 6:30 PM for this practical and informational workshop. Registration is required.

Andy Githmark is a Founding Partner and Wealth Manager at Steward Partners Global Advisory in Manchester.  He has been in the financial services industry since 1997 and has been a financial advisor since 2010.  Two sessions will be offered for this informative hour program on Maximizing Your Social Security with Andrew Githmark.

READERS THEATER: On October 7th at 6:00 PM, we’ll be hosting the popular Kimball Library Reader’s Theater. Register children in grades 2-5 to have a marvelous time trying out expressive reading with voices and in character. This is great fun for the dramatic reader and good practice for the reluctant readers. Scripts are handed out and parts are assigned and then the antics commence! All reading levels are welcome.

T/WEEN BOOK DISCUSSION:  The book of the month is 'Symptoms of Being Human' by Jeff Garvin. Discussion is geared for mature middle and high school t/weens.

Riley Cavanaugh is many things: Punk rock. Snarky. Rebellious. And gender fluid. Some days Riley identifies as a boy, and others as a girl. But Riley isn't exactly out yet. And between starting a new school and having a congressman father running for reelection in über-conservative Orange County, the pressure—media and otherwise—is building up in Riley's life.

On the advice of a therapist, Riley starts an anonymous blog to vent those pent-up feelings and tell the truth of what it's really like to be a gender fluid teenager. But just as Riley's starting to settle in at school—even developing feelings for a mysterious outcast—the blog goes viral, and an unnamed commenter discovers Riley's real identity, threatening exposure. And Riley must make a choice: walk away from what the blog has created—a lifeline, new friends, a cause to believe in—or stand up, come out, and risk everything.

Join the most awesome t/weens and chat with us about this book! Copies are available for the asking. Candy is served...  Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 6th, at 6:00 PM.

Please register and give us a try.

On September 22nd we’ll be meeting to discuss ‘The New Girl’ by Daniel Silva.

Now you see her.  Now you don’t.  THE NEW GIRL.  A thriller of deception, betrayal, and vengeance.

She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her…

Books are available at the main circulation desk. Come by soon to check a copy out and get started!

BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB IS BACK! Back by student request, youth in grades 3-5 meet monthly. Pick up the book of the month at the library, read it, and then come chat about it with library friends. Bring your supper or snack in a sack and we'll provide a drink and a treat.

The book this month is 'The Magic Misfits' by Neil Patrick Harris. We are meeting on Thursday, September 23rd, from 6-7:00 PM.

When street magician Carter runs away, he never expects to find friends and magic in a sleepy New England town. But like any good trick, things change instantly as greedy B.B. Bosso and his crew of crooked carnies arrive to steal anything and everything they can get their sticky fingers on.

After a fateful encounter with the local purveyor of illusion, Dante Vernon, Carter teams up with five other like-minded illusionists. Together, using both teamwork and magic, they'll set out to save the town of Mineral Wells from Bosso's villainous clutches.

Discussing books with peers is magical. Sign your child up online or give us a call to complete the registration process.
