Kimball Library News 12/4/12

Kids are cooking again!  Students in the 3rd-5th grades are invited to our cooking class. This busy month we feature a holiday 'no bake' dessert that is fun to make and absolutely great to eat! Come try it yourself!  Registration is required for this cooking session and seats are limited so... sign up now!  This popular class taught by Chef Birr will take place on Monday, December 17th, from 4:30-5:30pm

Extra!  Extra!  Read all about it!  A special North Pole visitor will be coming to Kimball Library on Tuesday, December 18th!  Santa is making a special trip just to visit our story hour children.  He will visit the ‘Bitty Books’ class at 10:45am and the ‘Kiddie Lit’ class at 11:30am.  Guests that are not enrolled in these classes may join us at 11:30am.  Santa likes to read ‘The Night Before Christmas’ to us as well as making himself available for listening to children's wishes.  Registration is not required for this one-time event.

Mah Jong Mondays has been such a popular event on Monday afternoons that you may be dying to get in on the action.  Our initial fall class was so full we had a waiting list.  Now the newbies are not so new and have added a few more games so we can take a few more registrations.  The class size will increase starting January 7th, but you can register now by going online or by giving us a call.  The games are played every Monday afternoon that we are open from 1:00-4:30pm.

Whether you are a novice or an experienced Mah Jong player, come join the fun!  We have someone who is willing to teach you to play if you never have had the experience.  Cozy up in the meeting room of the library, share some laughs, and make some new friends.  All experience levels are welcome.  We hope this will bring some people in the community together for a fun-filled afternoon.  The leaders will teach anyone who wants to learn.   It does require some strategy as well as some luck to play.  A small amount of time and effort is needed to become familiar with the principles and rules of the game.

Please be aware that the library will be closed for a few days during the holiday season.  We are closed for Christmas on both December 24 and 25, but we will be open for limited hours New Year’s Eve (10am-3pm) on December 31, and closed for New Year’s Day – January 1.  Happy holidays to all our fantastic customers regardless of what traditions you are celebrating!
