The 9th Annual Peddlers Market will be held on Saturday, November 2, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Like every year, this is a shopping experience you won’t want to miss.
The Friends of Kimball
Library are proud to present their 9th annual Peddlers Market. They
are pleased to support Yankee ingenuity and the entrepreneurial spirit to
present their largest representation of high-quality contemporary and
traditional artisans, crafters, and purveyors of fine foods. This year’s event promises to be bigger and
better with holiday gift items for everyone on your list. Please take note that even now there are many
beautiful raffle baskets prepared and you may buy tickets at Kimball Library
even before the event. Don’t be enslaved to the mall or gift cards—buy the
unusual! Free admission, free parking,
and an opportunity to do your holiday shopping will all be under one roof.
The location of this fine event
is at Dyke Auditorium at Historic Atkinson Academy, 17 Academy Avenue,
Atkinson, NH. (Off Route 121, next to Atkinson Town Hall).
Another exciting event
coming up soon is a Veterans' Day Program - Richard Rubin, author of ‘The Last
of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten World War (WWI)’
is the presenter.
In 2003, 85 years after
the armistice, it took Richard Rubin months to find just one living American
veteran of World War One. But then he found another. And
another. Eventually he managed to find dozens, aged 101 to 113, and
interview them. All are gone now.
His decade-long odyssey
led him across the United States and France, through archives, private
collections, and battlefields, literature, propaganda, and even music. But at
the center of it all were the last of the last, the men and women he
met—several dozen, aged 101 to 113, all of whom have now passed away.
They include: a new
immigrant, drafted and sent to France, whose life was saved by a horse; a
Connecticut Yankee who volunteered and fought in every major American battle;
a Cajun artilleryman nearly killed by a German airplane; an 18 year old Bronx
girl 'drafted' to work for the War Department; the 16 year old who became
America's last World War One veteran; and many, many more.
You won't want to miss this informative
program on Thursday, November 8, from 6:30-8:00pm sponsored by the Friends of
the Kimball Library. Refreshments will be served.
