Kimball Library News 5/29/22

Since registration for “Oceans of Possibilities’ summer reading program has begun, we are allowing you to peek into the oceans of programs coming up and register for them now!

SHIMMERY FISH: ‘Oh, how I wish I were a fish! My day would begin flapping my fins and I'd make a commotion out in the ocean!’

Children in grades K-4 on June 23rd at 4:00 PM are invited to register to get a crafty start to the summer. Using a CD, a little creativity, and some coaching from crafty Mrs. Birr, you’ll end up with a shiny fish that shimmers in your sunny window.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR DOWNSIZING & DECORATING YOUR NEW SPACE: Have you come to the point in life where you’re considering downsizing and don’t know where to begin? Presenters Lisa Sears and Kerri Durkee will provide a guide to the process of downsizing–before, during, and after the move. Come to the Library on Thursday, June 23rd at 6:00 PM to learn some important steps to take and receive resources to help you make the transition smoother and more efficient and enjoyable.

About the presenters:  Lisa Sears is a Real Estate Agent at Better Homes & Gardens The Masiello Group. Lisa has recently downsized herself and knows personally the steps to make the process an easy one. Kerri Durkee is an Interior decorator/stylist and owner of Better Than Before Home Furnishings & Design in Plaistow, NH. She enjoys helping homeowners create a home they absolutely love.

SNACK SCULPTURES: Hampton Beach may have sand sculptures, but Kimball Library has Snack Sculptures! This is the excuse your kids have been waiting for, that is, to play with their food. Children entering grades 3-6 in the fall are welcome to join us on Monday, June 27th, at 4:00 PM in creating sculptures out of their favorite snacks.

1. Each participant must bring all food and supplies needed to create their sculpture.

2. Each participant has 30 minutes to create their best snack sculpture.

3. Participants whose sculptures fit the Summer Reading theme Oceans of Possibilities OR a character/scene from a book will get an extra raffle ticket to potentially win a small prize.

4. After 30 minutes, participants get to walk around to look at their fellow participants sculptures and write their favorite on a raffle ticket.

5. Raffle will be drawn at the end of the program.

Participants may cook/bake their sculpture pieces ahead of time and put them together during the program. This is a Summer Reading Oceans of Possibilities event sponsored by The Friends of Kimball Library.
