Kimball Library News 12/29/09

It’s that time of year again when the Atkinson Women’s Civic Club is holding their 2nd Annual Photo show and we are the hosting facility. Submissions are being accepted beginning Monday, January 4th through Saturday, January 23rd. All the information you need to know regarding this event can be found at www.awcc-nh.org. Located on the website is a link for the photo show rules, payment information, etc. as well as a link for whom to contact. Please submit your queries there. Good luck and happy shooting!

Don’t forget to start the New Year right by logging onto www.kimballlibrary.com and clicking the calendar link. You will find a myriad of events that you can attend from book groups to movies to youth events to special programs. Take a new look and see what is happening for kids on Thursday afternoons and for teens and tweens on Thursday evenings. New this year will be ‘4th Saturday Flicks’ because the drop n’ shop in December was such a success. Each 4th Saturday of the month a movie will be shown in the large meeting room on the big screen starting at 10:30am. Kids ages 6-9 must register, and if parents sign a release on the day of the event they may leave the child/ren here. Ages under 6 are welcome with an adult, and ages 10 and up may drop in unannounced and unregistered. Specific movie titles will be made available on our online calendar within a week of the film’s debut at Kimball Library.

For youth on Thursday, January 14, in the Children’s Room make time to ‘Take a Break!’ from 3:30-4:30pm. Take a break, have some fun, and make a craft. Grades 3-5 are encouraged to come on down. We need you to register on our calendar in advance or call the library and have us register you. That evening, teens (grades 6 and up) can get UNplugged from 6:30-7:30pm in our meeting room. Don’t be bored – get on board! This is a chance to play board games or cards with other tweens and teens and make some new friends. Bring along friends (they do not have to Atkinson residents) so we’ll have enough for the party games. Don’t be boring, check us out and make us part of your Thursdays.
