Kimball Library News 11/8/11

It might seem early to start mentioning ‘holiday’ events, but we know that if you don’t book us now we may not see you in December and we have classes and events coming up that you won’t want to miss! So pencil us in now and in future articles there will be more information regarding each event.

Monday, November 21, from 6-8pm you can make and take your cornucopia arrangement home for a lovely Thanksgiving table or harvest themed event. Registration is required. Class is limited to 20 people. Materials fee of $25 must be paid in advance at the main desk.

Thursday, December 1, from 6-8pm you can make and take a beautiful boxwood tree with Felicia Motherway home with you. Reservations are required. Class is limited to 20 people. Materials fee of $30.00 must be paid in advance. Please sign up at the circulation desk.

Saturday, December 3, 10, and 17, for the children will be our ever popular ‘Holiday Drop N’ Shop’ from 10:30am-12:30pm on the first two dates. On the 17th we’ll end at 1pm. This event is for children ages 6 and up who can be left in our care by signing our release forms. We’ll occupy them with a movie and fun in our large meeting room while you shop or wrap gifts. The movie will be the first event followed by a simple craft class. Children under the age of 6 are welcome to stay for the movie and activities, but a parent or adult supervisor must stay in the building.

Tuesday, December 20th, from 6:30-8pm for grades 5-12 will be a Tween/Teen ‘Holiday No-Bake/Bake-Off!’ We had a stiff competition this summer and one of the winners just this evening has claimed she will win again. Start sharpening your knives and spoons for holiday recipes.

We presume that you’d like a few more details regarding the crafts for adults. We’re pretty sure that you’d be interested in what kinds of films are being shown on Saturdays as well as what type of craft is being offered each week. We know you will want the rules for the holiday cooking competition. Stay tuned for future articles for more information. Yes, that was deliberate. We will also soon have some brochures that you can pick up regarding the Saturday activities. Mark your calendar now.

We will also continue to have adult events such as writing, Wii, book discussions and knitting. Check out our weekly story times, events and classes. Too busy to drop by and know what is going on? You can get news directly sent to your inbox twice a month. Please ask us if you are interested. This is a fabulous way to stay abreast of the newest events.

Please note that we will be closed in November on Friday, November 11th, (Veterans Day) and Thursday, November 24th and Friday the 25th (Thanksgiving break). We ARE open on Saturday the 26th for our usual 10am-3pm hours.
