Kimball Library News 10/25/11

We are learning some new vocabulary with ‘Words with Teens’ on Tuesday nights once a month. Thus far we have played ‘Balderdash’, ‘Wordsters’, and ‘Scattegories’. It would be hard to choose a favorite! If you are in grades 6-12 you are invited to register and join us. We are a cool group that’s not too cutthroat and we’d love some more players. Our next gathering is Tuesday, November 15th, at 6:30pm. Register yourself and friends are welcome if you register them. We have word games here, but if you have a favorite you’re welcome to bring yours and teach us to play.

Saturdays once a month at the library are a great time for kids to gather and enjoy a free movie. Make a note in your electronic calendar or in the good old-fashioned date book to remind yourself about the Saturday Cinema coming up on November 19th at 10:30am. This is a fun film for all ages. Vroom! Vroom! Pack up the kids and you may leave the building if they are at least age 6 with a permission slip signed or stick around and enjoy the show for ages 5 and under. We appreciate your registrations in advance. Please bring movie snacks, candy, or bottled drinks along with pillows if the kids prefer to sack out on the floor. Make our Saturday shows part of your family traditions.

It’s time to start thinking about adding a delightful little extra to your Thanksgiving table or bringing along a beautiful hostess gift for the upcoming holiday. Here at the library you can enjoy a relaxing, yet productive, night out by learning how to arrange fresh flowers in a Fall Cornucopia (horn of plenty basket) perfect for Thanksgiving or a harvest themed home or event. The cornucopia is filled with colorful mums, golden aster, natural berries, fall grasses and foliage. This fresh flower design is long-lasting and perfect for a centerpiece or gift.

Felicia Motherway, back by popular demand, will be the presenter for this program taking place on Monday, November 21, from 6-8pm right in time for Thanksgiving. Are you a bit insecure about your craft skills? Not to worry, she doesn’t let anyone leave without a satisfactory looking basket in hand. Registration is required for this popular event and space is limited to 20 people. The reasonable materials fee of $25 must be paid in advance. Please sign up at the circulation desk. Your registration is confirmed with cash or a check.

Please note that we will be closed in November on Friday, November 11th, (Veterans Day) and Thursday, November 24th and Friday the 25th (Thanksgiving break). We ARE open on Saturday the 26th for our usual 10am-3pm hours.
