Kimball Library News 9/18/12

Create & Express (crafts for youth) are back and there are several openings in the upcoming weeks. On Thursdays from 4-5pm we are offering classes on September 27th and October 11th that still have availability. Registration is required for all ‘Create & Express’ events.

On September 27th, we have a ‘Leaf Rubbing Class’. Let’s enjoy the season! Collect leaves from different types of trees. You can collect some and bring them in for class, and Miss Judy will have some here. You will use crayons and paper and create beautiful leaf rubbings. This is open for children in grades K-5.

On October 11th, we will be having “Tissue Paper Collage’ class. We will be creating a tissue paper collage in a mosaic fashion. We will add a tree trunk on top of our mosaic design to make a fall scene. This will be fun for grades K-5.

We took some time off in the summer on Friday nights due to summer reading events galore, but now we are back up and running. Come spend some time with Miss Betsy on Friday nights at 7pm for PJ Peeps! PJ peeps are welcome to come in pajamas and listen to several stories and get a goodnight snack. This is a story time for families and their young children capable of listening to three books. We are serving multiple stories and a single snack. Please check our preschool classes if you are looking for an included craft and longer session. This is a drop-in event. Friends are welcome. Stories are geared for ages 4-8. Parents are welcome in pjs also. ;)

Do you know how to ‘turn it on’ and then you are stumped? We have ‘Turn it On! (Tech tutorials) available by appointment only. If you have an e-reader or gadget that makes you want to hide, then we have just what you're looking for. You can have a brief lesson here on your tech toy (Kindle, iPad, iPod, Nook or other device compatible with Overdrive) to learn how to put an e-book on it. This is a basic tutorial for newbies and they are for 30 minutes for one person (or two if you are couple). Appointments may also be made for tutorials for the new catalog or some very simple computer instruction. (Renewals, holds, searching, setting up an email account, facebook, etc.) Got questions? Ask for Kathy Watson at (603) 362-5234. (Kimball Library card holders in good standing only, please.)

For those who plan ahead, The Kimball Library will be closed on Monday, October 8. (Two day loans checked out on either Friday the 5th or Saturday the 6th will not be due until Tuesday, October 9th.)
