Kimball Library News 4/8/13

April vacation week Part Two (week of April 22-27) is just around the corner!  Take a peek at what we’ve got coming for the second half of that week!  Please carefully consider your schedule and register for those activities you can commit to.  We have space and supply considerations for most events.  Listed below are only what we’ve got going Thursday through Saturday.  Check the website or call us to see what events you’ll want to register for on Monday through Wednesday.

On Thursday, April 25, from 1:00-2:00pm we will be jumping for joy as we are offering ‘Hopping and Popping Popcorn’ for grades K-5. We’ll learn more about the healthy, tasty food we all love with activities and games using our five senses.  Save the date and make sure to register before all the spots are taken.

On Thursday evening, April 25, from 6:15-7:45pm we are hosting a ‘Kentucky Derby Party’ for grades 3 and up.  This is a great chance to learn about horse racing's biggest event.  Create amazing derby hats, enjoy special treats, join in our own sack race, and get a chance to 'run for the roses'.  This will be a fun-filled night so be sure to register so you don’t finish last.

On both Friday and Saturday (April 26 and 27) between the hours of 10:30am and 2:30pm there will be a ‘fairy tale’ scavenger hunt inside the library geared for children in grades K-5.  Search for missing treasures throughout the library right out of your favorite tales!  Guess the stories from the clues and earn a surprise for your very own ‘happily ever after’.  There are two different hunts, but they are both being offered on both dates.  This is a drop-in activity that does not require registration.  Just come during the allotted times, complete your card, and earn a small prize.  Ready, set, win!

As usual on Friday evening, we have ‘PJ Peeps’ from 7:00-7:30pm for ages 4-8.  PJ peeps are welcome to come in pajamas and listen to several stories and get a goodnight snack.  This is a story time for families and their young children capable of listening to three books.  We are serving stories and a single snack.  Please check our preschool classes if you are looking for an included craft and longer session.  This is a drop-in event.  Non-resident friends are welcome.  :)

One funny bone reminder for Wednesday evening, April 24, from 6:30-7:30pm as we host ‘Comic Mime Theater’ which is a family event that is best suited for elementary ages and up. ‘Comic Mime Theater’ highlights the best of Robert Rivest's 20 year career as a master mime performer, comic actor and improv artist. Through humorous mime stories, spoken word, physical comedy, and a zany cast of characters, Robert Rivest transforms an empty stage into pure hilarity!  Please register each person as we do have a room capacity number.
