April vacation week (April 22-27) is just around the corner! Take a peek at what we’ve got coming! Please carefully consider your schedule and register for those activities you can commit to. We have space and supply considerations for most events. Check back next week for the rest of the week’s events. Listed below are only what we’ve got going Monday-Wednesday.
On Monday, April 22, from 6:30-7:30pm
we are starting our line-up with ‘Reader’s Theater’. Children
in grades 2-5 will enjoy being our library 'actors' performing stories from
favorite books. Bring a friend and read aloud. Enjoy telling
a story reading your script without props or costumes. Just 'ham it up' and
have fun. Parents need to stay and be our audience! Registration is required.
On Tuesday, April 23, from
10:15-10:45am we are having ‘Bitty Spring Dancers’ for ages 2 to 3. Join Miss Angie from the European School of
Dance for a little music and movement. Our theme will be SPRING!
Mrs. Birr will be part of the act with a little spring story and snack for tiny
dancers. Registration is required. Also on Tuesday morning from 11:00-11:45am we
have ‘Little Spring Dancers’ for ages 3-6.
This is similar to the dance class above for children who are just a
little older. Please register and do let
us know if you change plans. Seats are very limited for this event and
the bitty dancers as well.
On Tuesday afternoon, April
23, from 1:00-2:30pm we are hosting ‘Recycled Art Fun’ for grades K-5. Have fun making a
craft, rather recycling a craft- out of all the odds and ends from our closet!
There are all kinds of paper crafts to make working together. Come have a blast
with paper, paste and scissors! Parents may need to assist the younger ones.
On Tuesday evening, April
23, from 6:30-8:00pm it’s time for the teens and tweens in grades 6-12 to come
in and get a new look! Join Tina Roux,
Independent Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, to 'trade' faces
with your friend! Sign up WITH a friend, and on this 'glam' night you'll
be able to pick a face for your friend to wear and she'll be able to pick yours
(trading faces). These makeovers will be t/ween friendly. This is a
great time to get tips on skincare and how to apply makeup properly so you will
look your absolute best! All teens will get individualized
attention. ‘Trading Faces’ has limited
seats so grab a partner and register soon.
On Wednesday, April 24, from
3:00-4:00pm we have ‘Watercolor Wonders’ for grades 3 and up. This
is a call for all artists or those who like to dabble in paint. Create
artwork using spray watercolors and watercolor resist. Add salt to your
work and discover what happens. Register
yourself and a friend.
Let’s have a drum roll for
Wednesday evening, April 24, from 6:30-7:30pm as we host ‘Comic Mime Theater’
which is a family event that is best suited for elementary ages and up. ‘Comic Mime Theater’ highlights the best of
Robert Rivest's 20 year career as a master mime performer, comic actor and
improv artist. Through humorous mime stories, spoken word, physical comedy, and
a zany cast of characters, Robert Rivest transforms an empty stage into pure
hilarity! Please register each person as
we do have a room capacity number. Preschool children are requested to
sit with an adult. Visit www.robertrivest.com to view clips and get your funny
bone tuned in advance!
Here
is a second chance at ‘Dress Me Up’ on April 24 from 4:00-7:00pm if
you missed the March date. Young ladies in need of a
dress for prom can come and try on free dresses. Please bring a student
ID to verify that the dress you want is actually for prom. There are over
60 dresses to choose from in various sizes, colors, and designs!
This event is sponsored by Timberlane Regional High School and is run by two students--Emily
and Jacqueline. Anyone attending prom is
eligible for a dress. You do not have to
be a TRHS student.
Feeling lucky? The ‘Friends of the Library’ are hosting a
raffle here at the library. There is a golf
basket worth $375 which includes the following: Atkinson Country Club-round of
golf for 4 (par 3), Brookstone-round of golf for 2, and Bradford Country
Club-round of golf for 4 (18 holes).
There is also a bird basket that holds: a copper hummingbird feeder,
Wild Birds Unlimited bird seed, a butterfly feeder, and more. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. The winners will be drawn and notified on May
18 at the semi-annual book sale. You
need not be present to win. The best
part is that all proceeds benefit youth programming. Buy now, and buy often!
