Back
by popular demand, we're creating mythical dwellings for forest
gnomes. Children should sign up with an adult and embellish a
bird house structure using natural materials on a bark base.
Together you will create your own gnome home!
This
exciting event is for grades K-5 with a participating parent on Thursday,
November 21st, from 6:30-7:30pm. Registration
is definitely required—Atkinson residents, only please. A glue gun and
glue sticks are needed to participate. Glue guns will only be used by
adults. Only one gnome home per child can be created. (If you are
discouraged by the waiting list on some of our events, be of good cheer. Historically we call on the day of the event
for at least several slots that become available last minute. Don’t be afraid to put your name in and be
available by phone.)
Let’s ‘continue’
conversations on energy! The Atkinson Energy Commission and
Kimball Library are partnering to offer time for people to come together
and get informed as well as discuss energy issues. Generally, these
meetings will take place on the 3rd Monday of each month.
November’s topic will be ‘How to make your house more energy efficient this winter.’ Please drop in and join us on Monday, November 18th, from 7-8pm. Chilly weather is definitely upon us!

Generally, the adult morning
book discussion meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month. This month due to Thanksgiving and all the
preparations the group will meet on Friday, November 22nd, from
10:15-11:30am to discuss Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Newcomers are always welcome.
Another anomaly regarding
book discussion is that due to the hectic season the tween and teens will
combine to meet in December on Wednesday, December 4th, from
6:30-7:30 to discuss ‘Endangered’ from
National Book Award Finalist Eliot Schrefer. The novel is the compelling tale
of a girl who must save a group of bonobos -- and herself -- from a violent
coup. All youth in grades 5-12
are welcome to get a book at the main desk and join us.
The library will be closed
on both Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th
for Thanksgiving break. We are open on
Saturday, November 30th, from 10am-3pm (our usual Saturday
hours.) Please stock up accordingly. Two day loans taken on Tuesday the 26th
will not be dues until Saturday the 30th.

efficient way to stay abreast of the newest events.
