Kimball Library News 11/11/13

Have you patiently been waiting to hear that the Kimball Library once again will be having Felicia Motherway here teaching the annual boxwood tree event? We are kicking off the holiday season with this ever-popular craft.  On Tuesday, December 3rd, from 6-8pm it is your night to learn how to make a beautiful fresh boxwood tree to enjoy for the holidays. The boxwood tree is an elegant design made out of boxwood and decorated with velvet ribbon, gold glass balls, berries and natural gypsophila. This popular centerpiece will last for months and is perfect for your home or for those who want a small holiday tree to enjoy. It’s also a great gift idea. Even the ‘craft-impaired’ will leave with a tree that looks like it was featured in Better Homes & Gardens.  Felicia does not let anyone leave without a lovely looking tree.  Reservations are required as the class is limited to 20 people.  Materials fee of $30.00 must be paid in advance in order for your registration to be secure.  Please sign up at the circulation desk.  Phone registrations will not be accepted.

Have you patiently been waiting to hear that the Kimball Library once again will be hosting three Saturdays in a row of our ever popular ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’?  Mark your calendar now for the following dates and times so you can register your children for December 7, 14, and 21 from 10:30am-12:30pm.  We are definitely “Santa’s Elves” for your **kids ages 6 and up.  We’ll occupy them with fun activities while you shop or wrap gifts.  Each Saturday will host a different teacher and unique projects.  Please send them with simple snacks and spill-proof beverages.  You’ll fa la la la la all the way home!

**All 'Drop 'n Shop' participants must be at least 6 years of age to be left in the building without an adult.  Ages 6-9 must have an adult fill out a waiver on that morning to be left here in our care.  Children under 6 must be supervised by the attending caretaker.  Children ages 10 and up are allowed to stay without an adult or waiver according to library policy.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Residents only, please.

Details for the first ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’ on December 7 from 10:30am-12pm are as follows:  On the first day of ‘Drop ‘n Shop’ the elves have whispered to me...  Let's make some festive Christmas crackers!”  Christmas crackers hold paper crowns, a riddle or joke, and are filled with small treats and candies. Christmas crackers are a fun way to decorate your Christmas table and will surprise your family! You'll have lots of fun making these little gifts.  Registration is now available.

If you or your child would like to see a sample of the Saturday crafts, please drop by the library and see the projects for each week displayed in advance.  Stay tuned here each week as we keep you informed as to each Saturday event’s details.

The library will be closed on both Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for Thanksgiving break.  We are open on Saturday, November 30th, from 10am-3pm (our usual Saturday hours.)  Please stock up accordingly.  Two day loans taken on Tuesday the 26th will not be dues until Saturday the 30th.
