MEMOIR
WRITING, TWO-PART SERIES: Join
us at Kimball Library on Wednesday, April 29th, from 6:30-7:30pm,

exciting opportunity. You must be

Thatcher Freund, a noted memoir writer and journalist, will
conduct two one-hour seminars on the fundamentals of memoir writing, including
techniques for recalling important memories and how to describe them in
compelling ways.
Because we remember our lives as a series of scenes that tell stories, memoir is a superb format to learn the elements of good writing. By stressing the importance of ideas and the use of details that bring scenes to life, Thatcher helps participants gain the confidence to write their own stories.
Thatcher is a graduate of Stanford University and the Columbia School of Journalism, and has lived in New England off and on for the last twenty years. His published work includes a book, Objects of Desire: The Lives of Antiques and Those Who Pursue Them, which follows the lives of three pieces of American furniture from their creation in the 18th Century to their sales at Sotheby’s some 250 years later.
