Kimball Library News 11/14/16



BOXWOOD TREE CLASS: Learn how to make a beautiful fresh boxwood tree to enjoy for the holidays. The boxwood tree is an elegant design made out of boxwood and decorated with velvet ribbon, gold glass balls, berries and natural gypsophila. This popular centerpiece will last for months and is perfect for your home or for those who want a small holiday tree to enjoy. 

Felicia Motherway will guide you through this popular class on Tuesday, December 6th, from 6-8pm.

Reservations are required and class size is limited to 20 people.  Materials fee of $35.00 must be paid in advance.  Please sign up at the circulation desk.

Back by popular demand, Kimball Library once again will be hosting three Saturdays in a row of our entertaining and educational ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’ Saturdays.  Mark your calendar now for the following dates and times so you can register your children (online or over the phone) for December 3, 10, and 17 from 10:30am-12:30pm.  We are definitely “Santa’s Elves” for your children.  We’ll occupy them with fun activities while you shop or wrap gifts.  Each Saturday will host a different teacher and unique projects.  Please send them with simple snacks and spill-proof beverages.  You’ll fa la la la la all the way home! 

**All 'Drop 'n Shop' participants must be at least 6 years of age to be left in the building without an adult.  Ages 6-9 must have an adult fill out a waiver on that morning to be left here in our care.  Children under 6 must be supervised by the attending caretaker.  Children ages 10 and up are allowed to stay without an adult or waiver according to library policy.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Register soon (kindergarten to grade 5 appropriate), please, for this very popular event so we can have the necessary supplies.)

DROP ‘N SHOP~LET IT SNOW (Dec 3):  There's something in the air, and perhaps it is snow! In any case, come make a clear snowman ornament to hang on your tree or in your window.  Hear a few wintry stories. Make a reindeer cookie just perfect for eating! Practice your present wrapping. There's much to do as we start the holiday season right here in our library. Please register for this super snowy event scheduled for Saturday, December 3, happening at 10:30am until 12:30pm.

DROP ‘N SHOP~WE’VE GOT THE BEAT (Dec 10): Join us for a day of dancing, exercise, and musical fun! We'll start with a 60 minute ZUMBA Kids' class, and end our time by making our own instruments, playing musical chairs and a musical instrument guessing game. This popular event will be sure to fill up quickly so please sign up today for this zany Zumba event to be held on Saturday, December 10th, from 10:30am-12:30pm.

DROP ‘N SHOP~PEPPERMINT TWIST (Dec 17):  ‘Come on baby, let’s do the twist!’  Let’s make decorative, minty candy cane crafts and delicious, festive candy cane bark.  Let’s play lots of candy cane games and learn the peppermint twist.  Let’s see how candy canes are made!  Register ASAP for this minty mountain of delight that will occur on Saturday, December 17th, 10:30am to 12:30pm.
