Kimball Library News 2/26/18

This week’s theme is ‘It’s not too late to start now!’

HEALTHY COOKBOOK CLUB:  If you enjoy checking out cookbooks and trying new recipes, then check out our monthly Healthy Cookbook Club.  On March 19th at 6:30 PM we will be talking about and testing a few recipes from ‘The Pollan Family Table: The Best Recipes and Kitchen Wisdom for Delicious, Healthy Family Meals’ by Corky Pollan.

Stop by the circulation desk and pick up a copy of the cookbook, sign up to bring a dish from our list of YUMMY dishes and join us on March 19th for tastings and discussions.

About Karen, our Healthy Cookbook Club Facilitator:  Karen DiPietro, RDN, CDE is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at Ellen Byron and Associates where she provides individual nutrition counseling and diabetes education.   Karen also facilitates after school nutrition and cooking programs for Kids’ Test Kitchen. She established a nationally accredited diabetes education program and has facilitated diabetes education and support groups in many communities.   Karen is passionate about helping people eat healthier by tailoring eating strategies to individual preferences and lifestyle, leading to sustainable changes in eating behavior. She believes people need to stop restrictive diets and focus on quality food and home-cooked meals. To that end, she is interested in providing practical, hands-on nutrition education through cooking classes, food demonstrations, supermarket tours and cookbook clubs.

FEATURED ARTIST ~ KEVIN GRIFFIN: Kevin Griffin is a retired CPA and business executive who lives in North Andover, MA. Hanging in the meeting room and in the main section of the library are some of his rather recent photographs. All were exposed, processed, and printed by him.  Most of the images were photographed in Essex County, and are set in nature.

Griffin uses Nikon cameras and lenses, and favors printing on Red River paper with a Canon Pro-1000 printer. Some of the images were framed by the photographer, but most were framed by Image-Tec in Methuen MA.

Kevin Griffin can be reached at qbid1@comcast.net.  His photography will be on display until March 15th
.
