Kimball Library News 6/29/2020

Summer is hopping at Kimball Library! Make your registration plans now!

ART OF PAPER FLOWERS: Join this ZOOM call with professional artist Theresa Monteith while she walks us through the art of making paper flowers. You will complete the meeting with your own paper bouquet. This event is for ages 9-19 and take place on Tuesday, July 14th, at 5:00 PM.

Materials will be available for pick-up from the Kimball Library for all registered participants.

Library staff will call registered participants 24 hours before the event to arrange for material pickup. There are a dozen craft packets and Atkinson library card holders have priority.  Please register ASAP to avoid disappointment.

NETFLIX PARTY: It's time for a NETFLIX PARTY!  If you have an existing Netflix account, install the Netflix Party web extension into your browser.

The extension will allow us to watch one show that will be automatically synced up between our computers - complete with a chatroom to talk about the show in real time.
In the month of July, we're watching Babysitter's Club! This new live action show is based on the bestselling book series by Ann M Martin. Register online and a Netflix Party link will be sent to you 1 hour before show time. This party is geared for ages 8+.
If you have any questions, please email Daniele at dguest@kimballlibrary.com.

NUMBER GNOMES: This ZOOM is for kids in Grade K-5 who want to have fun and play games while practicing some math skills! We'll learn mapping to find buried treasure, measure candy, and bounce some numbers around (literally!). Register online or over the phone to receive a ZOOM link emailed to you 1 hour before the event.  This is a 3-week series, being held on Tuesdays from 5-5:45 PM starting July 7th.

SUMMER VIRTUAL CONCERTS: Relax and sit back from the comfort of your own home, deck, patio, etc. and enjoy the virtual concert in the series that is taking place on July 23 at 6:00 PM.  THE LAST DUO! (Oddly, this is number 3 in our series and not last.)

Greg Descoteaux and Dan Sirois are both accomplished singer-songwriters and their vocal and instrumental talents complimented each other.  With top-notch harmonies, this diverse highly entertaining acoustic Duo performs songs from a wide range of artists such as The Everly Brothers, America, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and many more.

This concert will be a Facebook Live Event.  You do not need a Facebook Account to view. This event is sponsored by the very generous Friends of the Kimball Library.

KIMBALL LIBRARY REOPENING PLAN: (In case you missed it!) We are happy to announce that the Kimball Library will reopen to the public on Monday, July 6th!
Our first priority is your safety and that of the staff. Therefore, strict social distancing and masks will be required of the 20 adults who can visit the Library at one time. Admittance will be based on a token system. A visiting adult will take 1 of 20 tokens on their way inside the building and return it when leaving; if all the tokens are taken, the 21st visitor is welcome to wait on a bench inside the lobby until someone leaves. For now, Take Out service will continue.

The Library will return to its original schedule: Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. The Children’s Room will be open for browsing; all borrowing will take place at the Main Desk. Returns must be placed in the drops so that they can be quarantined.

The large Meeting Room will not be available at this time. However, the Conference and Study Room will be open for groups of 4 and 2 respectively. In order to preserve social distancing, programs will continue to be virtual and staff will be positioned 6 feet away from visitors.

We have missed you! We are stocked with many new and exciting materials and are looking forward to opening our doors again.
