Kimball Library News 10/19/2020

There are some exciting new items in the Youth Department!

Book Bundles are tote bags full of 6 picture books, a craft, and activity ideas to do at home all around a theme. Our themes include Music, Shapes, Froggies, Clothing, Pets, and more! Book Bundles are intended for children in Pre-K but anyone can enjoy them.

Adventure Packs are BRAND NEW drawstring packs themed around the beloved Magic Tree House Series. For anyone who hasn’t read them, each Magic Tree House book brings the siblings Jack and Annie to a different time and place where they explore history while trying to make it back home in one piece! Each pack holds one Magic Tree House book as well as 3 other titles that support the theme, as well as activity ideas to do at home. Adventure Packs are designed for kids in Grades 1-5.

Both the Book Bundles and the Adventure Packs are available for a regular 3 week check out. Crafts do not need to be returned, only the books and the bag do. Call us with any questions or to reserve a bundle for pick up, st (603) 362-5234 x2 or ask the main desk to transfer you to the Youth Department.

HALLOWEEN AT THE KIMBALL LIBRARY:  We’re open 10-3pm on Halloween, so stop by the Library on that day to show off your costume. We’ll be giving small bags of candy and a craft kit to each and every kiddo who stops by the Library until supplies last. You can take the craft kits home to make your very own funny monster magnet. Don’t forget to check out a scary Halloween book while you’re here.

ALSO, we have a spooktacular surprise for the younger ones in the family! Watch our friend Jungle Jim as he transforms into Dr. Junglestein! Jungle Jim is an amazing performer who has all kinds of magical tricks and funny props up his sleeves. He’s put on a show to record just for us here at Kimball Library. You can watch it anytime from now until November 15th when the link expires. Get ready to interact and have a laugh. Don’t miss his wild finale when he disappears into a giant balloon! (For all ages, but especially geared for ages 3-9.)

Where can you find this link? It went out in our bimonthly electronic newsletter, it is posted on our website, and it also is making an appearance on our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. Meanwhile, Happy Haunting to all!

CITY OF GHOSTS: Our next T/ween Book Discussion group will meet Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30pm to talk about City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab.

After a near-death experience, Cass discovers that she can see ghosts. When she meets a mysterious girl who shares her supernatural power, they begin working together to send ghosts beyond the Veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead. But can this new friend be trusted? How much does Cass not know? And will her powers be any match for the sinister Red Raven?

We’ll meet in the person with masks to talk all things creepy, mysterious, and otherworldly. The book is available on Hoopla as an audiobook. You won’t want to miss out!

The dates are during Timberlane School District’s vacation week, February 21-28, 2021.
