Kimball Library News 2/22/21

Does the practice of mindfulness result in a display of more care and compassion toward others? Learn how to use mindfulness to cultivate an inclusive, skillful compassion that can help us to stay connected to our best selves, others and our common humanity, even when we can't be in the same room.

Regardless, if you have never tried Mindfulness or are just looking for a way to jump back into the practice, you are invited to join us. Register for your Zoom link today.  This very pertinent event will take place at 6:30 PM on March 4th.

About the instructor: Liz Korabek-Emerson is a certified mindfulness teacher, transformational workshop leader and creative coach dedicated to helping people become more resilient in their workplaces, homes and communities.

NEEDLE CRAFTERS: Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, rug braiding, quilting or another form of needle work come join us for Needle Crafters. Each Wednesday from 10:30 to noon this informal gathering is a fun meet-up for those who are currently working on projects or who wish to start one. Are you stuck on a stitch or confused by a pattern? Most likely someone in the group can help. It is a great group to get some ideas for beginning new projects as well. This weekly meet and greet group enjoys conversation and laughs all while stitching away.

Our priority is your safety and that of the staff. Therefore, social distancing and masks are required. Chairs will be spaced around the normal knitting area to accommodate for social distancing measures. The room size capacity is limited and therefore the group will be limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Registration is required.

CRAFT, PAINT & COLOR: The adult Craft, Paint & Color Meetup Group is returning. Following social distancing and face covering measures, the gathering will look a bit different. The group will use the large meeting room off of the lobby to accommodate for social distancing measures. The group size will be limited to maximum of 10 people. Registration is required and we will not be able to accommodate walk-in participants.

Individuals will be able to spread out as they dabble in painting, coloring or creative crafts using oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and pencil. Individuals bring their own supplies and work on canvas, wood, sketchpads and coloring books.

Sign up and join the group for a time to unwind, de-stress and create. We meet on Fridays from 10:30 to 12:30.

ART FOR GRADES K-6: Each week we'll have a fun art challenge to try with materials from home.

We'll adapt to whatever you have around the house, but we suggest having either markers, colored pencils, or crayons on hand, as well as some paper, scissors, and glue.

Bring your creativity and imagination! Our meeting time has changed to 4 PM on Fridays. Registration is required for this artsy virtual event.
