Kimball Library News 6/21/21

It’s always good to be in the know!  Holiday hours and our regular hours are located on the website. We are giving you notice so you can plan to stock up, so please note that we are closed on Monday, July 5th, observing Independence Day. As always, streaming and downloadable books are open 24/7 with a Wi-Fi connection and a library card in good standing.

ZOO CREATURES: Come meet some incredible amphibians and reptiles from Zoo Creatures. We’ll get up close and personal with frogs, snakes, lizards, and maybe even some giant bugs. It’s either WOW or EEK depending on your personality.

This event will be held in the Library Courtyard. Please maintain 3 feet of social distancing when possible. (Consider bringing a blanket to help establish your own family space.) As with all our outdoor events, this will be weather dependent. Please register for this event happening on July 14th at 6 PM so library staff can easily contact you in the event of cancellation/rescheduling.

Thank you to the Friends of Kimball Library for sponsoring this fun, educational event!

SUMMER CONCERT HAZEL PROJECT: The Hazel Project is comprised of five New England area/seacoast musicians who pay tribute to the music recorded and written by bluegrass pioneers and legendary musicians, Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard. The Hazel project performs traditional grass-roots music with harmony and heart. The performance includes guest Gretchen Bowder, from Boston based band the Bag Boys, on banjo.

Summer concerts in the Library Courtyard are sponsored by the Friends of the Kimball Library. By registering for this event occurring on July 15th at 6 PM, you will receive concert updates related to inclement weather event changes.

WRITERS GROUP (Grades 2-5): Practice writing skills here at the Kimball Library Youth Writer's Group. All our writing practice will center on having fun, telling good stories, and using our imaginations. We'll take on small challenges (like writing for 1 minute without stopping) and big challenges (like writing letters to people both real or imaginary). We'll share our favorite stories (from books, movies, or tv) and talk about what makes a story great. We'll play games and find inspiration in the most unlikely places.

This group will meet in person starting on July 16th and will meet Fridays at 5 PM. It will be held in the Courtyard as often as the weather will allow. Registration is required.

THANK YOU: Please know that the Friends of Kimball Library are overwhelmed with gratitude regarding your generous donations in their most recent fundraising campaign. It takes a village to keep an amazing library surging ahead! All donations given from the heart are truly appreciated.
