Kimball Library News 7/19/21

Creative outlets are always important but they’ve never played a bigger role than they have this past year. We’re hosting a *T/ween Creative Café to celebrate and tap into everyone’s inner creativity. T/weens are welcome for the coffee, tea, and snacks, and to stay to share, listen, and create! This creative and timely event is taking place on Monday, August 2nd at 6 PM.

We’ll talk about some art that inspired us this past year and then tackle our own creative prompts. Everyone is welcome, no matter what kind of art you create. Do you write? Draw? Paint? Dance? Sing? Lip sync? This is for you! We’ll have materials available for (almost) everything.

We’ll plan to meet in the courtyard (or the meeting room in case of bad weather).

*Please only register if you are entering 5th grade or older

EYES ON OWLS: Everyone loves owls! Yet, how often do you get to see an owl up close? Perhaps you’ve glimpsed the shadowy form of a great-horned owl in the beam of your headlights as you traveled a back road at night. Have you ever scanned a frozen saltmarsh or hayfield in winter, hoping to find that arctic hunter, the snowy owl? How about that mob of noisy crows circling a white pine tree? Have they found an owl? Join teacher/naturalist Marcia Wilson and author/photographer/naturalist Mark Wilson to share their passion for owls. Then see SIX REAL LIVE OWLS in person! Whoooo could think of anything more fun than that?

Be prepared to be outside in the Library Courtyard. Bringing a blanket so you can remain socially distant in your own family space is a great idea. Register for this event happening on Wednesday, August 4th at 6 PM.

THE LAST DUO: Greg Descoteaux and Dan Sirois are both accomplished singer-songwriters and their vocal and instrumental talents complimented each other. With top-notch harmonies, The Last Duo is a diverse highly entertaining acoustic Duo that performs songs from a wide range of artists such as The Everly Brothers, America, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and many more.

Register and join us on Thursday, August 5th at 6 PM in the Library Courtyard for this wonderful musical duo. Thank you to the Friends of Kimball Library for sponsoring so many awesome concerts and youth events!

ANIMAL COASTERS: On the same night and time as The Last Duo (8/2 at 6 PM), we’re making special animal coasters with children in grades K to 5 to put our cold drinks on. They are great for the hot weather so register early to for kids to make their ‘cool’ coaster in the ‘cool’ library. They look so special everyone will wonder where you got them! There are limited seats so sign up the kids and you can enjoy the concert at the same time.

STAY TUNED: Visit our website, FaceBook page, Twitter account, YouTube or Instagram to learn about more program updates and more resources.
