Kimball Library News 10/31/21

Sorry you missed the fall book sale? No worries, we have an ongoing sale on books, audiobooks and DVDs.  Feel free to stop by and shop our bargain shelves located in the main library on the shelves next to the windows and opposite the biographies.  We currently have a large selection of "gently viewed" children's videos that are fun to view on those cold and rainy days with the kiddos or grandkids. In addition, we have an assortment of popular fiction titles. Traveling? Grab a paperback and don’t be concerned about return it. It’s portable and inexpensive. Take a peek on a regular basis as materials come and go.

HOMEBOUND SERVICES: Did you know that Kimball Library has a Homebound Program?  This program provides adult services to those who are unable to get to the Library because of: short or long-term illness; non-driver status (seniors) and/or physical challenges. You must be an Atkinson resident to be eligible for this service.

Materials will be delivered to your home and individuals may borrow books including large print, DVDs (more than 6 months old); magazines (except the current issue); audiobooks and music CDs.

All that is required is to fill out a Patron Profile Sheet.  Either stop in at the Library and fill out the profile sheet (staff are here to assist you), but if that is not possible, complete the form by phone or it can be sent to us by mail or fax.  For more information, please visit https://kimballlibrary.com/homebound-services/

A library staff member will contact you to review your profile and set up a convenient time for the books to be delivered.

Atkinson Elderly Services delivers library books to Atkinson residents who are enrolled in the Library’s homebound service.  We greatly appreciate their support.

SATURDAY STEAM CLUB: Join us once a month to have the kids let off some STEAM.

Typically, on the second Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM, children in grades K-3 will have a chance to tackle some STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities guided by Miss Katie.

We will meet once a month and work on a project using common items and have some fun challenges using whatever we have created for the day.

This month we will be making: catapults! Please register in advance to be sure a space is saved. In November this club will take place on Saturday the 13th at 10:30 AM.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS: Please note that we have some holiday closures on the horizon. We are open on Thanksgiving Eve (November 24) from 10-3. We are closed Thanksgiving Day and the day after (November 25 & 26). We are open normal Saturday hours on November 27. Stock up in advance, or as always, Hoopla, Libby, Kanopy and other online services are open 24/7.

STAY TUNED: Visit our website, Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube or Instagram to learn about more program updates and more resources.
