Kimball Library News 8/18/10

Teens! Don’t miss this last summer gathering before school starts and everyone scatters to different teams, teachers, and schedules. We need one more connecting event before the fall schedule starts up. Come in pj pants with your movie candy and bottled water for ‘Teen Movie Night’ on Thursday, August 26th, from 7:30-10pm. The teen librarian will make the popcorn. Snacks to share are always welcome! We'll watch 'A Walk to Remember' and have a discussion afterward comparing the book to the movie for those who have read it while there will be general discussion regarding the film for all. There will be time for a game or maybe two, and then the 'rents can pick you up promptly at 10pm. Save the date, invite your friends, and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. (Friends, too!) This event is for grades 6 to 12. As an added BONUS for that evening, expect the teen librarian to be wearing her new hair color – BLUE! Congratulations to all participating teens!

Plan ahead! Here’s to reminding our patrons that we will be closed Labor Day weekend (Saturday, September 4 through Monday, September 6.) Two day loan items checked out on Thursday the 2nd will not be due back until Tuesday, September 7. Take advantage of the extension and have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Local author talk and signing! It’s not often that an Atkinson resident writes a book, and this is your opportunity to capitalize on that. Local author, Michael Cormier, is the author of “Sumner Island” and he is making a visit to Kimball Library on Thursday, September 9, from 7-8pm. He will be available for discussion and signing. Don’t miss out!

Reminder! Keep bringing in those donations because the ‘Fall Book, Bake, and Flea Sale’ is literally right around the corner on Saturday, September 25, from 8am-3pm.
