Kimball Library News 5/31/11

Please pay close attention to the online calendar on our website www.kimballlibrary.com especially during June-August as many of these activities require registration and we limit the number of people who may attend. We don’t want anyone to be left out, but sometimes space is limited or supplies demand a count ahead of the event. New this year for summer reading is that not only is registration required at each program, but also, registration will close 24 hours before the start time. Register early to avoid disappointment.

KIDS (Flag Day): Tuesday, June 14, from 3:30-4:30pm. It’s Flag Day and we're going to celebrate with international flair. All ages are invited to create their favorite country's flag on this special ‘Make-it & Take-It’ craft hour. Please register in advance so we’ll have plenty of supplies for you and your friends.

KIDS & TEENS (Summer Reading Kick-off): Saturday, June 25, from 10:15am-12pm. The “Summer Reading KICK-OFF” event on should be on your ‘must do’ list. We're headed for France, and we want you to remember the three C’s. Crepes, Crafts, Cinema! Wear your beret or mustache or anything sparkling! Think creatively because we have an Eiffel Tower building project to complete, and a little French cinema to enjoy. REGISTER EARLY. This ‘Kick-Off’ is open to all children and teens who will be participating in the children’s or teen summer reading program at the Kimball Library. Ages 5-19 are welcome. (Teens—you are not too old, and we always need helpers.) The cut-off date for signing up will be Friday, June 24th at 12:00 noon for this particular event. Hope to see you there!

TEENS (Chocolat!): Wednesday, June 29, from 6:30-9pm. 'Chocolat!' the movie will be on the large screen. During intermission we'll have the chocolate fountain ready for dipping. Entry requirements for this program are online registration AND one dozen or more dippers for the chocolate fountain. Dipper suggestions: marshmallows, pineapple chunks, strawberries, banana chunks, Nilla wafers, shortbread chunks, etc. Anything that is bite-sized that will taste good dipped in chocolate will work. This is a 'YOU ARE HERE' teen summer reading event. Participants should be entering grade 6 up through age 19. Registration will close 24 hours before the event. This is not a ‘nut-free’ event.
