Kimball Library News 4/10/12

APRIL VACATION WEEK (April 23- 28) is just around the corner. Please note that many of the listed activities require registration and seating is limited so you might want to take this opportunity to pull out your date book and register early. There are sign-ups available on the online calendar. As always, you can contact the youth services department for more information at (603) 362-5234 ext. 224.

Monday-April 23:

BOOK BABIES– 10:30-11:00am. (Infants through age 2). Infants through age 2 with their caregivers are invited to join us for simple stories, rhymes, fingerplays, and songs from the program, Mother Goose on the Loose. Please feel welcome to stay after the session to allow for playtime and socializing for all ages.

ORIGAMI AFTERNOON– 2:00-3:00pm. (All ages) Does origami leave you stymied? Well, then come and join us for an afternoon of origami fun! Make a flower. Make a crane. Make so many they fill a plane! (or, a shoebox). Once you make a few, they are easy to do, and we will show you how! No registration required. :)

BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB– 5:30-6:30pm. (Grades 2-4) This book club is held on the 4th Monday of the month. Books are available at the children's desk for you to pick up in plenty of time for reading. We will have pizza while we talk about the book we're reading. Why not try it? Registration is required. Our book is Mysterious Miss Slade by Dick King-Smith.

Tuesday-April 24:

COME FOR BREAKFAST- 10:00-11:00am. (Kids K-Grade 5) This is the way to start a vacation! Go out for breakfast! You have to help fix it - to make it taste great! Registration is a must!

WORDS WITH T/WEENS- 6:30-7:30pm. (Grades 5 -12) Are you gnarly about words? Do you like to be with other peeps your age to hang and chat with? Competitive, much? The youth services director plans to play word games with teens. The game of the night will vary depending on the number of teens who register. You are welcome to bring word games from home or play the ones selected. All games must be able to be completed in roughly one hour. PS. BRING FRIENDS and register them! They do not have to be Atkinson residents.

Wednesday – April 25:

BUILD-A-RACETRACK- 4:00-5:30pm (Kindergarten and up). Come join us for building and racing fun! Build your own team racetrack and then take part in an all-in-good-fun race at the end! Please note: This is a parent(s) and child/children team activity.

Thursday – April 26:

SCAVENGER HUNT– 10:00-3pm. Come in anytime and try your luck at finding everything that's hiding! Bring a friend, a Mom or Dad, Gram or Gramps, and see if they're as good as you are finding stuff. Everybody can try it. This is a rain or shine, in and out hunt for fun. Good luck!

STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER – 6:00-7:30pm. Prepare your favorite stuffed animal for a night in the library! We will read stories, make s'mores, sing lullabies, and more! Come back the following morning to see what kind of trouble your furry-little-friend got into during the night! Feel free to wear your jammies.

Friday – April 27:

DUPLO DAY- 10:30-12:00pm (PreK and up). It's Duplo Day at the library. We have a large selection for you to play with. All types of buildings and projects are encouraged. You do the dumping out, and we'll do the picking up. :) Bring your friends and make group creations.

It’s that time of year to start the book wave. We are stocking up for the upcoming semi-annual book sale that coincides with the Town-Wide Yard Sale (May 19, 2012). We are interested in gently used books, DVDs, and music. (Please, no magazines, textbooks, or condensed books.) Take the plunge into spring cleaning and we’ll take the goods off your hands. All donated items find a home in the book sale, our library, or get donated to other worthy causes. Proceeds from the sale benefit the library and you’ll make the ‘Friends of Kimball Library’ very pleased!
