November has some great
book discussions in the queue, and we hope you’ll consider taking part. Take a look below and see what matches your
age or timing. Newcomers are welcome at
all discussions so feel free to drop in without having read the book just to
see what it is like.
*Tween book discussion
(Grades 5-8) will meet on Wednesday, November 7th, at 6:30pm to
discuss ‘Small as an Elephant’ by Jennifer Richard Jacobson. We meet the first Wednesday evening of each
month from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss the book selected. Refreshments and
thought-provoking conversation will be served. All interested mature students
in grades 5-8 are welcome. (Not young adults, not children -- hence,
TWEENagers.) Please ask for a copy of the current book at the front desk
*Teen book discussion (Grades
9-12) will meet on Wednesday, November 14th, at 6:30pm to discuss
‘Where She Went’ by Gayle Forman. We
meet the second Wednesday evening of each month from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss the
book selected. Refreshments and stimulating conversation will be served. All
interested high school students are welcome. Please ask for a copy of the
current book at the front desk.
*Adult evening book
discussion will meet on Tuesday, November 20th, at 6pm to discuss
‘Nothing Daunted’ by Dorothy Wickenden.
This group meets the third Tuesday evening of each month from
6-7pm. Newcomers are always welcome and
books are available at the main desk.
*Brown Bag
Club (Grades 2-4) will meet on Monday, November 26th, at 5:30pm to
discuss The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly
Cleary. This book club is
held on the 4th Monday of the month. Books are available at the children's
desk in plenty of time for reading. We provide the dessert and
drinks while we talk about the book! Why not give it a try?
*Adult
morning book discussion will meet on Wednesday, November 28th, at
10:15am to discuss ‘Townie’ by Andre Dubus III.
This group meets the 4th
Wednesday of each month from 10:15am-11:30pm.
They welcome new
members even if you didn't get to read the book! Come to listen, or
join in the conversation. Coffee and goodies are available and it's a
great way to meet new friends. Books are available at the main desk.
Please be sure that you have included the Kimball
Science Fair in your plans for Saturday, November 10th, between 11am
and 2pm. All ages may drop in, but the
experiments are geared for elementary school through early high school. There will be “make and take” experiments as
well until supplies last. This event was
made possible by Harvard Pilgrim Community Spirit Mini Grant.
Please
note that we will be closed on Monday, November 12th, observing
Veteran’s Day. We also will be closed
for Thanksgiving and the following day (November 22-23). We will be open on Saturday, November
24. Please stock up and plan accordingly.
