Kimball Library News 11/13/12

Have you been waiting to hear that Kimball Library once again will be hosting three Saturdays in a row of our ever popular ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’?  Mark your calendar now for the following dates and times so you can register your children for December 1, 8, and 15 from 10:30am-12:30pm.  “We are Santa’s Elves” for your kids ages 6 and up.  We’ll occupy them with a movie and fun in while you shop or wrap gifts.  The movie will be first followed by a craft and other fun activities including books or games.  Please send them with movie snacks and spill-proof beverages.  You’ll fa la la all the way home!  (Please note that we require waivers for children ages 6-9.)   Children under the age of 6 are welcome, but an adult caretaker must be available in the building.  Craft projects are limited so please register or you may be left out as we have limited space and supplies.

Details for the first ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’ on December 1 from 10:30am-12pm are as follows:  On the first day of Shop and Drop the elves have whispered to me...  Let's make some snowmen!”  Santa's elves will be helping your children make a snowman decoration out of musical note sheets.  If you or your child would like to see a sample, please drop by the library and see the crafts for each week displayed in advance.

The movie selected for December 1 is: ‘Frosty's Winter Wonderland’ which is narrated by Andy Griffith. It tells the story of Frosty's friends, the children, who decide to make him a snow-wife named Crystal. Jack Frost is not happy about the children’s idea and tries to spoil everyone's fun, especially Frosty's.  This film includes all new featurettes and is fully remastered.  It runs for approximately 25 minutes.

The December book discussion for teens and tweens will be combined on the first Wednesday of the month due to the busy season.  The book of the month is ‘Inside Out & Back Again’ by Thanna Lai. This is the moving story of one girl’s year of change, dreams, grief, and healing as she journeys from one country to another, one life to the next.  Teens and tweens in grades 5-12 are invited.  Ask for a copy of the book at the main desk.  Friends from other towns are welcome.  Please register online or in person for Wednesday, December 5th, from 6:30-7:30pm.  Candy is provided and great discussion is guaranteed.

Do take note that we will be closed for Thanksgiving and the following day (November 22-23).  We will be open on Saturday, November 24.   Please stock up and plan accordingly.
