Kimball Library News 2/19/13

Dress Me Up is an organization dedicated to helping young ladies in the community find the perfect prom dress for free.  Young ladies in need of a dress for prom can come into Kimball Library on Wednesday, March 13th, from 4:00-7:00pm and try on free dresses.  Please bring a student ID to verify that the dress you want is actually for a 2013 prom.  There are over 60 dresses to choose from in various sizes, colors, and designs!  This event is sponsored by Timberlane Regional High School and is run by two dedicated and caring students--Emily and Jacqueline.

If you have a stylish dress in good condition to donate, (please remember these are for young ladies in the fashion of 2013), you may drop it off at TRHS before March 1.  From March 1 to March 13 you may drop off the dress at the school (TRHS) or at the library (Kimball).  Thanks in advance for your cooperation with these dates.  If you happen to miss out on this great opportunity, please take note that remaining dresses will be on display a second time at the library on Wednesday, April 24th, from 4-7.

Our renowned “Library Buddies” program is back for the 6th consecutive year.  This popular six week series will be running from March 13 to April 17 on Wednesdays from 4-5pm.  Little buddies in grades K-3 can have an older buddy in grades 6-12 to read with, create projects with, play games with, and hang with.  Registration is a commitment to all six weeks, barring sickness, unless you make arrangements in advance.

Also, we are looking for capable teens and tweens (middle school and older only, please) to play the part of the big buddy.  Please note the six week commitment and ask to talk to Kathy Watson, Youth Services Director, if you are interested.   Buddies are expected to commit to all six weeks unless pre-arranged.  Generally, the first thirty minutes should be devoted to reading followed by puzzles, games, crafts or coloring. Crafts will be pre-selected for you.  All readers’ hours will be recorded. Your time spent with us may also be used toward community service hours (older buddies).  This year we have online registration for each of the age groups.  Please be careful to click on little buddies (K-3) or big buddies (grades 6-12).  This little buddy portion of program is for Kimball card holders only, please.  Registration is mandatory.  Non-resident big buddy applicants will be considered.
